    • In invention relates to a process that comprises the steps in which ash generated in the combustion of carbon-containing material and water are led into a mixing vessel 100 in order to form a water-ash mixture, in which the water-ash mixture is mixed, the mixture is settled in order to form a surface layer 10, an intermediate layer 20 and a bottom layer 30 either in the mixing vessel 100 or in at least one settling vessel 200, the surface layer 10 is separated and led out through at least one outlet 40 in order to form a surface fraction, the intermediate layer 20 is separated and led out through at least one outlet 50 in order to form a liquid fraction, and the bottom layer 30 is separated and led out through at least outlet 60 in order to form a bottom fraction. The invention also relates to an apparatus for fractionating ash, the apparatus comprising at least one mixing vessel 100, means 70 for feeding ash into the said at least one mixing vessel 100, means 80 for feeding water into the said at least one mixing vessel 100, means 90 for mixing the mixture of water and ash in the said at least one mixing vessel 100, means 45 for separating the surface fraction from the mixture, means 50 for separating the liquid fraction from the mixture and means 60 for separating the bottom fraction from the mixture.

    • A method for recycling aluminium slags, comprising the steps of supplying aluminium slags, releasing aluminium-containing parts from the slags using a first crushing device in which the slags are crushed to form fractions, filtering the fractions using a first screening device to form at least a first and second part-stream, and passing at least the first part-stream along an eddy current separator for separating the aluminium-containing parts from the first part- stream. At least the first part-stream is passed along an eddy current separator which is driven at a rotary speed of less than 1000 rpm. The parts which remain downstream of this eddy current separator at the rotary speed of less than 1000 rpm are returned to a crushing device in order to be crushed further to form fractions. The fractions which have been crushed further are supplied to a screening device in order to be filtered to form at least a first and second part-stream. At least the first part-stream of fractions which have been crushed further and separated out by filtration is again passed along an eddy current separator which is driven at a rotary speed of less than 1000 rpm.

    • A method and apparatus for treating mixed waste by pyrolysis. Organic mass is carbonized by heating to carbon in a pyrolysis reactor (3) in an oxygen-free environment. Pyrolysis gases are distilled for oil and the gases are used for energy production. Solid matter resulting from pyrolysis is sieved for separating inorganic coarse particles from a carbon fraction. The carbon fraction is milled in two operations, first with a roller mill (8) and then with a jet mill (10), a removal of metal being performed between the operations. The pulverized carbon fraction is classified by means of ionizing particle separators (11, 12, 13). The multi-stage particle separation is followed by discharging clean air and recovering fine carbon.
