摘要： The invention relates to an improved method for anaesthetizing animals for slaughter using gas by transporting the animals for anaesthetizing through a gas-filled anaesthetizing space (6), wherein gas is introduced into the anaesthetizing space (6) by a gas feed (7) and gas is drawn out of the anaesthetizing space at a distance from the gas feed by a gas discharge (8). The invention also relates to an apparatus for anaesthetizing livestock for slaughter using gas which is provided with an anaesthetizing space (6) provided with a supply opening (7) and a discharge opening (8) for gas.

摘要： The present invention is directed to a method for treatment of poultry prior to slaughter of the poultry. In the method, poultry are exposed to a first atmosphere having a carbon dioxide concentration sufficient to induce relaxation of the poultry for a period of time sufficient to effect the relaxation. The relaxed poultry are then immediatly exposed to a second atmosphere having a carbon dioxide concentration sufficient to render the poultry unconscious. The poultry are subjected to the second atmosphere for a period of time sufficient to effect the unconsciousness, but not sufficient to kill the poultry by being exposed to the second carbon dioxide atmosphere. The poultry are then slaughtered prior to the poultry regaining consciousness.

摘要： The present invention concerns a procedure and equipment for the treatment, such as anaesthetisation or killing, of poultry by using gas. The gas comprises oxygen and carbon dioxide, among other components. During the treatment, the oxygen concentration is kept constant at a normal level (18 - 22 vol.%). This is important as it allows the poultry to breathe normally while the natural body functions can be maintained in their normal state until anaesthetisation takes place. The concentration of carbon dioxide is increased either continuously or discontinuously. With the present invention it is possible to anaesthetise poultry before slaughter in a way which produces low levels of stress and discomfort in the poultry while, at the same time, the quality of the meat is better than with the use of traditional methods. In the equipment the poultry are exposed to the gas in a chamber (1), that may comprises a belt conveyer (5) and further be separated into three treatment zones (2, 3 and 4).

摘要： An animal sticking apparatus for sticking an animal to be slaughtered comprises a sticking tool (10) having two rotary or oscillating cutting blades (16) and support means (21) mounting the sticking tool (10) for insertion and withdrawal movements. The cutting blades (16) perform a cutting operation upon insertion and advancement of the sticking tool (10) into the thoracic entrance of the chest cavity of the animal, the sticking (10) tool cutting tissues as it is advanced and enabling the stick wound to remain open upon withdrawal of the sticking tool to promote rapid exsanguination. The sticking tool (10) after insertion into the animal is pivoted about a remote axis (A) to sever blood vessels near to the animal heart ensuring massive and rapid blood flow. A pair of cutting blades (27) are operative to cut the hide of the animal to form a pre-cut (B) before insertion of the sticking tool (10), the blades (27) being movable apart to separate the hide at the pre-cut (B) so as to expose a substantially sterile surface into which the sticking tool (10) is inserted. The pre-cut blades (27) have cutting edges (29) forming an acute angle to the hide surface and cause a cutting action from the hide inside the surface to the outside for maintaining substantially sterile conditions on the inside of the hide pre-cut (B).
