The trap may also convey a killed animal from a first position, in which discharge of the killed animal will not entail that it is conveyed away by water running through the sewer, to a second position, in which discharge of the killed rat will entail that it is conveyed away by water running through the sewer.

    • The invention relates to a method of killing rodents (8) by means of a trap (1), said trap (1) comprising - a compartment (2) defined by one or more walls (3), said compartment (2) comprising an inlet (4) for receiving a rodent (8), - at least one mechanical killing arrangement (5) for killing said rodent (8), - triggering means (6) for triggering said mechanical killing arrangement (5), said triggering means (6) comprising at least one sensor (7) configured for detecting a rodent (8) in said compartment (2), and a disposal arrangement (9) for automatically disposing a killed rodent (8) into a container (12) for accumulating rodents (8) killed by said trap (1), said method comprising the steps of - receiving a rodent (8) by means of said inlet (4), - detecting said rodent (8) by means of said triggering mechanism (6), - triggering said mechanical killing arrangement (5) so as to kill said rodent (8) in said compartment (2), - by means of said disposal arrangement (9) automatically disposing said killed rodent (11) into said container (12), and automatically reloading said trap (1) so as to enable subsequent killing of a another rodent (8) by said trap (1). The invention furthermore relates to a trap adapted for operating in accordance with the above mentioned method of killing rodents.

An enclosure has a pair of side walls that each have a rodent aperture therein, a bottom wall, at last one top wall, a rear wall, and an open front side. A front cover is adapted for sealing the open front side of the enclosure and is fixed to the bottom wall of the enclosure with a living hinge. A rigid bait platform is contained within the enclosure and comprises a pair of risers supporting a mezzanine and defining an anchor space therebetween for receiving a brick or other suitably weighted object. The mezzanine includes a bait receptacle thereon. A pair of insecticide trays and snail bait trays may be included.

    • An electrically powered rodent trap which includes a surveillance system for remote surveillance of the trap so that the trap may be operated without being attended to. A rodent which enters into the trap is killed by means of electrocution electrodes. The dead rodent is automatically dispatched from the trap, e.g. by a trapdoor, into a container or reservoir beneath the trap. The number of electrocutions and possible other data is stored by an electronic system incorporated in the trap and a signal is sent out, either by request from an external unit, or automatically to an external unit. A city rodent exterminator is capable of monitoring the status of the trap from an office location and thereby effectively tend to the trap or to a series of traps.
