    • A web cover for an endless conveyor is formed from one continuous belt (10) of wear-resistant, non-metallic sheet material in which a plurality of closely spaced holes (12) are provided. The web cover is endless and intended to overlie the screen (20) of said conveyor wherein the web cover is formed with the ends of the belt (10) being joined together by fastening means. The fastening means comprises two parts (30, 32). Both parts (30, 32) have reflexive sections and have two limbs (34) with one part (30) being secured to each end of the belt (10) with a limb (34) above and below the said end of the belt (10). One part (30) is provided with a lengthwise series of spaced hook elements (36) and the other part (32) is provided with a correspondingly spaced lengthwise series of apertures (38) through which extends and is secured a rod (40) around which each hook element (36) is engagable and is held.

    • A ground clearing vehicle (1) has a mobile chassis (2) mounted on tracks (3). Plant handling apparatus (4) is mounted on the chassis (2) and is operable for gripping and pulling a plant from the ground, and in particular a pineapple plant, removing stones and soil from the roots of the plant and chopping up the plant material. A driver's cab (5) is mounted on the chassis (2) above the plant handling apparatus (4) from which the operation of the vehicle (1) is controlled. The plant handling apparatus (4) includes a plant grabbing apparatus (7) which is operable to grip and pull a plant from the ground. The plant is then delivered to a stone separator (8) before being delivered by an infeed conveyor (9) to a chopper (10) for chopping up the plant material which is then discharged clear of the vehicle (1 ) by means of a chopper discharge chute (11). The plant grabbing apparatus (7) comprises a stacked pair of spaced-apart contra-rotating pick-up conveyors comprising a lower pick-up conveyor (14) and an upper pick-up conveyor (15) for gripping a plant therebetween.

    • A potato harvester comprises a coarse screen web conveyor (4), a digging device (1) upstream thereof, an elevator (7) located downstream of the coarse screen web conveyor (4), a haulm separating device and a stone and clod separating device (9), wherein the elevator (7) is formed by a double conveyor having an inner, rotatable, close-meshed web conveyor (13) and an outer de-vining conveyor (14) rotatable in the same direction and arranged in parallel to each other. In order to facilitate haulm separation, the de-vining conveyor (14) has transverse finger strips (15) extending away from the web conveyor (13) and runs closely over the web conveyor (13) along the elevating section of the elevator.
