    • A pipe gripping apparatus (10) has a first jaw (14) with a pipe-contacting surface (20) at one end thereof, a second jaw (16) having a pipe-contacting surface (22) at one end thereof, a tongue (18) having a pipe-contacting surface (24) at one end thereof, and an actuator (26) connected to the first and second jaws and to the tongue. The actuator (26) serves to move the first and second jaws and the tongue such that the pipe-contacting surfaces thereof move radially inwardly simultaneously for a substantially identical distance. A first link (30) pivotally connects the tongue (18) with the first jaw (14). A second link (38) pivotally connects the tongue (18) with the second jaw (16). The first and second links extend angularly outwardly from the tongue (18). The first and second pivot points of each jaw have a distance unequal to a distance between the first pivot point and pipe-contacting surface of each jaw. The pipe-contacting surfaces can be elastomeric pads, toothed dies, or rollers.

    • Device for mounting and/or dismantling hoses onto or from connectors or for similar processes, comprising a drive (2) which generates a linear drive motion with an energy supply and a control device (3) for controlling the drive motion, a feed member (39) which can be linearly driven by the drive (2) and a pivotably mounted pair of intercheangeable tongs (24). The feed member (39) engages the inner lever ends (27) of said pair of tongs which face away from a connector (52), in order to pivot the jaws (29) of the pair of interchangeable tongs (24) during the forward displacement of said feed member (39) against a hose (50) which is located between said jaws. The device also comprises a bearing part (23) which carries the pair of interchangeable tongs (24) and which can be displaced in the direction of the feed member. Said bearing part has a stop (13v, 13vi) and a counter-stop (15) which is connected to the feed member (39). Once the feed member (39) has advanced the hose (50) the distance necessary, in order to secure a section of said hose between the jaws (29), the counter-stop (15) strikes the stop (13v, 13vi) and entrains the bearing part (23) for the remaining section of forward displacement, in order to advance the pair of interchangeable tongs (24) and to push the hose (50) which is clamped therebetween onto a connector (52), or to remove the hose from the latter.
