摘要： A method of applying a slider (40) to a fastner-carrying web of plastic film (50). The fastener (10) includes interlockable profiles (16, 18) and fins (20, 22) depending from the respective profiles (16, 18). One of the fins (20, 22) is attached to the web of plastic film (50) such that the profiles (16, 18) are immediately adjacent to the web (50). The fastener (10) is folded away from the web (50) about the attached fin (20, 22) such that th eprofiles (16, 18) and proximate protions of the fins (20, 22) are oriented at an angle, preferably about 90 degrees, relative the web (50). Because the profiles (16, 18) and proximate fin protions (20, 22) are oriented at an angle relative to the web (50), they can be easily accessed and controlled for applying the slider (40) to the profiles (16, 18) and performing other fastener-related operations.

摘要： An assembly and method for installing sliders and end terminations onto a reclosable zipper for plastic bags is disclosed. The assembly includes a base (14) with a cam path (42). A rotor (12) is mounted on the base (14) and includes at least one slider installing member (16) and at least one end termination installing member (18). The rotor (12) includes a cam follower (32) extending into the cam path (42) and secured to one of the slider installing member (16) and end termination installing member (18) which is reciprocally mounted on the rotor (12) and is reciprocated by the interaction of the cam path (42) and cam follower (32). At a first point in the rotation of the rotor (12), the slider installing member (16) and the termination installing member (18) are supplied with sliders (48) and terminations (26). At a second point in the rotation of the rotor (12) the slider (48) and terminations (26) are simultaneously installed onto a zipper (28).

摘要： Methods and apparatus for automated insertion of sliders on continuous zipper material. The method involves the following steps: (a) advancing a section of zipper material past a leading edge of a splitter plate (82) that pries the zipper strips of the zipper material apart; (b) clamping a first portion of one zipper strip (6) against one side of the splitter plate, while clamping a first portion of the other zipper strip (8) against an opposite side of the splitter plate, the first portions of the zipper strips b eing d isposed o n a n upstream side of a slider insertion zone; (c) closing a portion of the zipper comprising respective second portions of the zipper strips disposed on a downstream side of the slider insertion zone; and (d) inserting a slider (10) onto the zipper in the slider insertion zone. A plow (42) of the slider is disposed between respective third portions of the zipper strips. The proximity of closed zipper to the closing end of the slider and the presence of open zipper at the opening end of the slider and adjacent the plow facilitates insertion of the slider onto the zipper.
