摘要： A portable dispenser (10) with which lengths of a sheet material (12) may be manually dispensed from a supply roll (13) of the sheet material. The dispenser (10) has a frame (18) including a bridging portion (19) adapted to extend along a portion of the periphery of the roll (13) of sheet material, and end wall portions (22) fixed to the ends of the bridging portion (19) and adapted to extend along the opposite end surfaces of the roll (13) of sheet material on which the roll (13) of sheet material is rotatably journaled. A resiliently flexible cantilevered portion (24) of the frame (18) has a proximal edge (26) fixed to the bridging portion (19) and has a sharp cutting edge (30) along its opposite distal edge (28). A guard portion (32) of the frame (18) extends between its end wall portions (22) and has an inner surface extending along the side of the cutting edge (30) opposite the roll (13). The cantilevered portion (24) is normally positioned in a retracted position at which the cutting edge (30) is spaced from the roll (13) of sheet material and is positioned adjacent the inner surface of the guard portion (32) to restrict contact with the cutting edge (30) by a person handling the dispenser (10) such as to withdraw a length of sheet material (12) from the dispenser (10). The cantilevered portion (24) can be manually flexed by a person grasping the outer surface of the frame (18) to move the cutting edge (30) away from the inner surface of the guard portion (32) to a cutting position at which sheet material (12) being pulled from the roll (13) can be engaged with the cutting edge (30) to transversely sever the sheet material.

摘要： A cut-off blade assembly (11, 50, 61) including a thin metal blade (30, 60) having an attachment portion (34, 64) by which the cut-off blade assembly can be attached to a dispenser, and a plurality of projecting similarly shaped triangular primary teeth (36, 66). The triangular primary teeth each have two sides terminating in points (41, 71) and have bases adjacent the attachement portion that are aligned in a first direction along the blade so that their points project generally at right angles to that first direction. Edge surfaces on the sides and at the points of the primary teeth intersect a major surface of the primary teeth at an included angle of no greater than about 90 degrees to define a cutting edge at that intersection. The cut-off blade assembly further includes projections (44, 54, 74) along one major surface (32, 31A) of the primary teeth. Those projections have distal ends positioned adjacent the points of the primary teeth, have sufficient thickness at the points in a direction normal to the major surfaces of the primary teeth to restrict inadvertent contact between a person and the cutting edge of the cutting blade, and are shaped and positioned to extend only along the primary teeth to afford easy cutting of sheet material pressed against the cutting edge of the primary teeth and free movement of the end of the sheet material being cut over the primary teeth.
