    • A float valve apparatus is provided for regulating the level of fluid within a tank. The apparatus may include a housing having one or more inlet ports and an outlet port that are each fluidly connected via a channel disposed within the housing. A float disposed within the housing may move relative to the housing between a first position and a second position when a fluid level in the tank reaches a preset level. A shaft may extend from the float into a chamber, and as the float moves from the first position to the second position, fluid may enter a chamber and bias the float further upward. In some examples, the shaft is further configured to increasingly obstruct the flow of fluid in the channel as the float moves from the first position to the second position.

    • A buoyancy flushing apparatus is disclosed which comprises a reservoir for accumulating liquid, having an inlet for receiving liquid and an outlet chamber recessed in a bottom wall of the reservoir. The outlet chamber includes an outlet for draining liquid out of the reservoir. The apparatus further comprises an outlet valve movable between a down position where liquid accumulates in the reservoir and a raised position where liquid accumulated in the reservoir is flushed out via the outlet. The outlet valve comprises a ballast unit sized and shaped to fit loosely in the outlet chamber when said valve is in the down position; and a float unit topping the ballast unit to move the valve in the raised position by buoyancy when a sufficient amount of liquid is accumulated in the reservoir, thereby providing a passageway for liquid between the bottom wall of the reservoir and the valve leading to the outlet in the outlet chamber to flush liquid out of the reservoir. Guiding means are provided for guiding the outlet valve between the down position and the raised position. The apparatus can be used for applications such as water treatment and irrigation. It could advantageously be used for directing and spreading waste water previously treated in a septic tank to different sanitary treating fields.

    • A magnetic automatic stop valve formed in a container of a medical fluid administration system has one magnetic element located in a float and another magnetic element located proximate a valve seat. As the fluid level in the container decreases, the magnetic field established between the float and the valve seat eventually overcomes the buoyancy of the float in the fluid and attracts the float into the valve seat at which position the flow of fluid from the container is stopped. The float is formed of two identical halves each of which has one half of an internal post. When joined together to make the float, the internal post is fully formed and extends from one end of the float to the other. One magnetic element is slid over the post during manufacture and is free to slide from one end of the float to the other. Due to the symmetrical nature of the float and the freedom of movement of the internal magnetic element on the post, the float may be inserted into the fluid container without regard to which direction it faces thus lowering manufacturing costs. Flow seals are provided to completely shutoff flow when the float is seated.

    • An automatic shutoff valve (10) of the type having a body (12) with an inlet (30), an outlet (32) and an interior chamber (64). The chamber has a top (68) and a bottom (26). The float has a valve member (116) configured to close the opening when the float is at the bottom of the chamber. The means may include a conduit extending from the inlet into the chamber and having a discharge end adjacent to the float. Preferably the discharge end is angled towards the float.     • Fluidising transport apparatus comprises a hopper (2), a pressure vessel (4) and a valve element (8) which controls a port (6) between the hopper (2) and the vessel (4). The valve element (8) is retained closed against the port (6) under pressure within the vessel (4). A fluidising nozzle (14) receives transport fluid, such as water from a fluid line (16). Water supplied through the fluid line (16) thus fluidises solids (32) in the vessel (4) and raises the pressure to maintain the valve element (8) in the closed position. The fluidised solids material is then supplied to a transport pipeline (24) from the vessel (4). Solids material loaded into the hopper (2) depress the valve element (8) when pressure within the vessel (4) is relieved, so allowing a fresh charge of the solids material (32) to enter the vessel (4) for a subsequent cycle. The position of the valve element (8) within the vessel (4) is influenced by a float (12) which responds to the water level (34) within the hopper (2).

    • A system, for preventing overflow in a tank, fillable via a nozzle, includes a lower passage and an upper passage. An upper end of the lower passage receives a portion of fuel flow from the nozzle, and a lower end is in communication with the tank. A valve connects to the lower passage and has a fill position and a stop position. When a level of liquid in the tank is below a predetermined level, the valve is in the fill position and fuel is permitted to flow out the lower end of the lower passage. When the level of liquid in the tank is at or above the predetermined level, the valve is in the stop position and blocks the flow of fuel out of the lower end of the lower passage.
