The exhaust system has a damper (26) that is opened when spraying actively is taking place in the spray booth (10) and that is closed when there is no spraying actively taking place in the spray booth (10). A control switch (56) is mounted in any of several locations to determine when the spray gun (44) is in use or is not in use. Thus, the control switch (56) is a actuated when the spray gun (44) is hung up... indicating a nonuse condition of the spray system; whereupon use of the spray Bun (44) lifts the Bun from the hook to indicate spraying activity. A motor (32) drives the damper to the opened position; and a spring (30) biases the damper to the closed position. A timer is also used to delay the closing of the damper until between twenty and possibly two hundred seconds have lapsed after spraying activity has terminated. This purges the spray booth while yet allows for automatic damper control under normal spraying sequences of use and nonuse. A fire sensing switch (74) is used to deenergize the damper motor (32) to allow the damper (26) to be closed in the event of a fire.

摘要： Partitions in a paint spray booth are adjustably coupled to a grated ceiling of the booth and extend to preselected heights above a grated floor of the booth. The adjustable partitions define a paint spray application zone therebetween wherein air flow rate between the ceiling and the floor of the booth is chosen for optimum paint transfer and overspray removal efficiency, while air flow between the partitions and the booth outer walls may be much lower to conserve investment and running costs. Air flow reducers, such as adjustable perforated plates, are positioned on the grated ceiling above the low rate air flow spaces between the partitions and the outer walls.
