    • A musical keyboard touch sensor pad having a plurality of integrated sensors disposed in an array is disclosed. The plurality of integrated sensors represents a keyboard key. A processor is electronically coupled to the plurality of integrated sensors. The processor is programmed to receive signals from several of the plurality of integrated sensors and to generate a sound signal based on input from the several of the plurality of integrated sensors. The output is variable based on the number in the plurality and the location of the plurality in the array. An audio output device is electronically coupled to the processor to generate a sound based on the sound signal. A keyboard using a plurality of the sensor pads as well as a method of generating sounds from the keyboard are also disclosed.

    • Disclosed in certain arrangements is a musical instrument that can include a plurality of tine tone generators. The musical instrument can include a keyboard including a plurality of keys. The plurality of tine tone generators can be configured to correspond with one of each of the plurality of tine tone generators. The musical instrument can also include a plurality of hammers, wherein each of the plurality of hammers is configured to strike one of the plurality of tine tone generators when one of the plurality of keys is depressed. The tine tone generator can be configured to form a single unitary piece and can include a tone bar and a tine. The tine can further include a tuning spring and can include a ferro magnetic tip.

    • Embodiments generally relate to providing a musical keyboard. In one embodiment, a keyboard includes a base characterized by a base plane, a first mechanism operably connected to the base and to a first set of keys; and a second mechanism operably connected to the base and to a second set of keys. In the closed state, the first and second mechanisms enable the plurality of keys and the second set of keys to lie in the base plane. In an open state, the first mechanism enables the first set of keys to lie in a first plane, and the second mechanism enables the second set of keys to lie in a second plane.

    • An electronic keyboard instrument is provided and methods of playing and assembling the same. The instrument comprises a controller for enabling activation of electronic signals having audible, visible, amplifiable, recordable and/or like characteristics, and a power source for operating the controller. A first keyboard is provided having a first selected length and being oriented in a first direction such that (i) audible notes of music from at least one internal sound module and/or at least one external sound module, (ii) recordable data to be enhanced or modified by an external sequencer or program controlled apparatus, (iii) photoelectric signals, and (iv) processes or mechanisms, triggered or controlled by external signals or data, for controlling machines, video playback or lighting, and/or the like may be generated and/or activated using a first hand of one or more users. A second keyboard with a second selected length is generally coextensive with and oriented generally opposite to the first such that (i) audible notes of music from at least one internal sound module and/or at least one external sound module, (ii) recordable data to be enhanced or modified by an external sequencer or program controlled apparatus, (iii) photoelectric signals, and (iv) processes or mechanisms, triggered or controlled by external signals or data, for controlling machines, video playback or lighting, and/or the like may be generated and/or activated using a second hand of the one or more users. In addition, an interface connects the controller to at least one external device having sound module, and/or sequencing and signal enhancement functions. A plurality of peripheral devices operatively connected thereto permit interactive control and manipulation of the signals. Finally, a wearable support is mounted to the instrument for suspending the first and second keyboards from the user's body during instrument operation. Alternatively, the instrument is suspended by a support structure in a generally horizontal fashion for simultaneous operation by multiple users.
