    • A method and a system are disclosed for processing a banknote. The method includes providing a banknote having at least one photonically active security feature, the banknote being moved along a conveyance path; illuminating the at least one security feature with light from a stimulus source; identifying a location of the at least one security feature by detecting an emission from the security feature; directing an excitation source at the identified location; illuminating the at least security feature with light from the excitation source; and detecting a further emission from the photonically active security feature in response to the light from the excitation source. Further the process includes the step of analyzing the shape and size of each object within an image during the search phase to determine if the object has the expected physical attributes of the real feature.

For example, a security document authentication device includes an image capture interface that receives the captured images of a document and a memory that stores a plurality of document type objects within a data structure according to the dynamic document identification framework. The security document authentication device also includes a document processing engine that traverses the data structure by selectively invoking one or more of the plurality of processes to identify the captured images as one of the plurality of document type objects. Contrary to conventional identification techniques, this identification method performed by traversing the data structure stored according to the dynamic document identification framework may provide more accurate identification result in a more efficient manner, as only applicable processes may be applied to identify the captured images. Upon identifying the document type, a set of one or more validators are applied to further confirm its authenticity.

    • A method of authenticating objects is disclosed. At least one object having a print region with printed material contained thereon is provided. The printed material of the print region includes a layer of non-visible indicia which emits at least one wavelength of light outside a visible range of an electromagnetic spectrum when stimulated with electromagnetic radiation. An optical image of the object is recorded with an imaging device to make the non-visible indicia perceivable to a human eye. The perceived image is then compared against expected authentication indicia to authenticate the object. A system for authenticating objects includes at least one imaging device to record optical images of objects having a layer of non-visible indicia and to render the non-visible indicia perceivable to a human eye. The system also includes a central authentication system in communication with the imaging device to receive optical images recorded by the imaging device.
