摘要： Certain types of holographic recording materials can be used to updateably record holographic stereograms formed when fringe patterns are generated through interference of an object laser beam containing image information with a reference laser beam. In this manner, calculation of fringe patterns is avoided, and instead perspective information is computed for a scene or object to be displayed, the information is downloaded to display hardware such as a spatial light modulator, and fringe patterns are subsequently generated through interference of an object laser beam containing this information with a reference laser beam in the classic hologram recording scheme. Previously recorded holographic stereograms or component hogels are updated by erasing the stereograms or component hogels and recording updated stereograms or component hogels, or by recording updated stereograms or component hogels in a separate portion of the holographic recording material.

摘要： A method of recording a volume holographic image is described in which a holographic recording medium (14) containing a photoreactive dye is exposed to a plurality of coherent light beams having a wavelength to which the dye is sensitive, thereby forming an interference fringe pattern therein. The photoreaction occurring in the areas of constructive interference generates an interference fringe pattern formed by a periodic array of photoreacted areas of the dye and unreacted areas of the dye. This generated interference fringe pattern may contain, but does not have to contain any image or other encoded information. Selected areas of the interference fringe pattern are then exposed to actinic radiation in such a manner to partially or fully bleach, remove, or deactivate the photoreactive dye fringe pattern, thereby producing a holographic pattern, shape, or image formed by areas of the interference fringe pattern that were not bleached, removed, or deactivated.

摘要： A holographic signature panel (2) may be incorporated onto a security document as an anti-counterfeit measure. The holographic signature panel (2) may be formed by affixing a signature (16) to a conventional holographic panel which has been coated with an ink compatible primer (14). The signed holographic panel may then be covered with a protective laminate (18) so as to prevent its alteration and discourage its removal. The holographic signature panel is personalized by the partial occultation caused by the affixation of the signature and by the resulting etching of an image of the signature onto the embossed holographic pattern. Even after the chemical removal of the signature ink from the holographic signature panel, a ghost etching of the signature is left within the holographic pattern embossed in the reflective surface of the hologram. The partial effacing of the holographic panel makes it unique and render it useless for copying. A bank draft form incorporating such a hologram may be employed as an anti-counterfeit measure.
