摘要： A nonimpact printer, for example, a color printer, of the type having an endless movable web (1) on which two or more images are formed by an electronic printhead (8) and transferred in registration provides reliable registration using perforations along an edge of the web. A first sensing means, for example, a printhead sprocket (31), senses an edge of the perforations and controls the printhead. A second sensing means, for example, a transfer sprocket (32) also senses an edge of the perforations and controls transfer. Error in image formation because of error in perforation formation is substantially corrected by using the same perforation for transfer that is used for printing.

摘要： A printing apparatus (10) including: an imaging mechanism (20); a drum (30) for advancing media sheets past the imaging mechanism (20) for printing; an encoder coupled to the drum (30); a controller (60) coupled to the encoder (50); and, a memory (70) coupled to the controller (60) and containing controller executable code and at least one table (74) including a plurality of data entries each indicative of one of a plurality of sequential drum positions and at least one associated action; wherein, the controller executable code, when executed by the controller (60), causes the controller (60), for each data entry in the table (74), to: communicate data indicative of the indicated drum (30) position to the encoder (50); receive an indication that the drum (30) has rotated to the communicated drum position; responsively to the received indication, initiate the indicated associated action; and communicate data indicative of another of the data entries' associated drum position to the encoder (50) responsively to the received indication.
