摘要： System for developing photographic material in a processing vessel (11) containing a number of storage containers (20) for different processing liquids (22), each container being individually controlled by gas pressure by means of a gas-line (57) connected to it. In this case, the processing liquid (22) goes up through an appropriate vertical pipe (56) into a manifold (34). This process is determined by a distribution valve (70) in accordance with a control programme. In order to devise a reliable and simple system, the relevant flow paths (56, 34, 42) of the processing liquid (22) must be free of valves from the various storage containers (20) to the processing vessel (11), and the distribution valve has only to be gas-actuated, whereby the correspondingly-controlled outlet of the distribution valve is relieved of the gas pressure (58) at the end of an operating phase. A sensor (59) responds to the flow of the processing liquid and sets in motion a timing system, which after a programmable time duration has expired again switches the distribution valve.

摘要： It is known to use rotating drums in photographic processing apparatus. However, in many embodiments, relatively large volumes of processing solution are required for effective operation of the apparatus. This makes most drum arrangements unsuitable for use with unstable chemistry and single use chemistry as the processing solutions need to be replaced frequently. Described herein is an improvement to the surface (24) of a drum (20) in photographic processing apparatus incorporating a drum arrangement to form a low volume processing tank. The improvement comprises forming a spiral (22) either on or in the surface (24) of the drum (20). This has the advantage of improving the process activity of the apparatus and prevents the material being processed from adhering to the drum surface.

Described herein is a drum arrangement (10) in which a drum (14) oscillates within a generally U-shaped vessel (12), a processing tank (18) being defined between the drum (14) and the vessel (12). Photographic material (30) is driven through the tank (18) by a pair of drive rollers (24, 26) situated at the inlet (28) to the tank (18). The drum (14) is oscillated through an angle between 5 DEG and 90 DEG for effective processing.
