摘要： A fiber optic connector is disclosed that includes a plug body having a plug end and a connector core that mounts within the plug body. The connector core includes a ferrule subassembly including a ferrule, a ferrule hub that attaches to the ferrule, a spring holder and a connector spring. The ferrule sub-assembly is assembled with the connector spring pre-compressed to an initial compressed state prior to mounting the connector core within the connector body. The plug body and the core are configured such that the connector spring is moved from the initial compressed state to a final compressed state when the connector core is loaded in the plug body. In certain examples, tuning features can be integrated into the connector core.

摘要： Optical fiber connections and their applications in downhole assemblies are described herein. The downhole assembly includes a well completion element with an end that couples with a corresponding well completion element. An optical fiber extends along at least a portion of the well completion element and transmits an optical signal using a first mode. The well completion element includes an optical fiber connector that is coupled to the optical fiber. The connector also includes a mode converter that receives the optical signal from the optical fiber and converts the optical signal from the first mode to a second larger mode. This second larger mode may be more robustly communicated to a corresponding optical fiber connector affixed to the corresponding well completion element.

摘要： A harsh environment connector has first and second connector units which each have at least one contact chamber in which at least one contact is located. Seal assemblies at the front ends of the respective contact chambers include seal members which rotate about the longitudinal axis of the connector as the units are mated to allow contacts of one connector unit to pass through aligned seal openings and into engagement with contacts in the other connector unit. Each seal assembly has a seal clamp member and the seal and seal clamp members are relatively rotatable during mating and de-mating between a first position when the units are unmated in which the seal openings are clamped shut by the seal clamp member and a second position when the units are mated in which clamp portions of the seal clamp member are offset from the seal openings.

摘要： A fiber optic sensor assembly for use on a sub-sea pipeline. The fiber optic sensor assembly is coupled to remotely located equipment by fiber optic cable(s) which extend outside of the pipeline. The fiber optic sensor assembly is affixed to a mounting point on the pipeline. The mounting point is a pipe section having an internal conduit and at least one layer that surrounds the internal conduit for protection and insulation of the internal conduit. A segment of the pipe section has a portion of such layer(s) removed or omitted to define an annular recess. When installed, the assembly has two semi-cylindrical halves that are positioned with the annular recess and coupled together to thereby surround and embrace the segment of the pipe section. The assembly houses a length of optical fiber that is coupled to at least one externally accessible fiber optic connector.
