摘要： Se ha desarrollado un dispositivo que permite realizar envejecimiento artificial de materiales odontológicos mediante cambios térmicos de alternancia frío- calor de forma automatizada. La invención consiste en un brazo motriz que sumerge una cesta porta-muestras de forma alterna en un baño de solución acuosa fría y caliente, respectivamente. El dispositivo permite el control preciso del número de ciclos, seleccionar las temperaturas de trabajo, el mantenimiento exacto de las temperaturas de los baños, seleccionar la duración de los ciclos, elegir el modo de transición frío-calor y, si se desea, permite trabajar de forma manual. El desarrollo de este dispositivo aumenta la validez y la significación del envejecimiento artificial mediante ciclado térmico, lo que constituye una herramienta muy útil para la resolución de diversos problemas dentro del campo de análisis de materiales en Odontología Restauradora.

摘要： A process for the preparation of ceramic articles having a thickness of at least about 2.5 cm, which comprises: a) selecting the ceramic composition from the group consisting of silicate material, metal oxides, nitrides and carbides, and mixtures thereof, optionally adding ceramic fibers, such as boron nitride or silicon carbide fibers, to the ceramic composition, b) autoclaving the ceramic composition to increase its hydrogen form contents, which increases the compositions's microwave absorptivity, c) forming the ceramic composition into the desired shape, and d) subjecting the composition so shaped to microwave energy to internally heat and thereby dry and sinter the composition, optionally with external heat applied by means of electrical resistance or gas fired heating. Novel apparatuses for the extrusion and vibrocompaction of ceramic compositions, the drying of ceramic masses, kilns for microwave-assisted firing of the ceramic articles, cars, and a hydraulic air handling system for tunnel kilns.

摘要： A method and apparatus are described for quantative determination of the level of spalling of a protective surface coating as a result of repetitive heating and cooling. The method comprises introducing at least one radionuclide into the protective coating of an article (16), alternately heating and cooling the article (16) for a predetermined number of heating and cooling cycles, collecting the spalled particles (10) and measuring the radioactivity thereof. The apparatus comprises a chamber (2) for receiving the coated article, means (4) for heating the chamber (2) or the article (16) and a spall collector (8). The spall collector (8) is characterized in having means for immobilizing any spalled coating particles (10) and in being so adapted that the level of radioactivity of any spalled particles can be measured by a gamma -spectrometer.

The electrical signal may be extracted from the material through at least one current extraction electrode. The plurality of current injection electrodes may be arranged symmetrically with reference to a symmetry of the material. While the electrical signal is being applied to the material, the computing device may measure a first voltage using a first measurement electrode and a second voltage using a second measurement electrode. The first measurement electrode and the second measurement electrode may be positioned symmetrically with reference to the symmetry of the material. By comparing the first measured voltage and the second measured voltage, the computing device may determine whether the material includes a crack or other defect.

摘要： A ceramic armor system with built-in conductive circuit attached to a ceramic component. The conductive circuit can be accessed by a user at contacts provided in the system. The circuit is arranged so that damage such as cracks that occurs within the ceramic component can propagate into the conductive material forming the circuit and thereby cause a rupture in the conductive circuit. An electrical probe such as an ohmmeter is used to measure the conductive circuit resistance that is then checked against an expected value. The results are used to determine if the ceramic armor component is in operable condition.
