    • A method and apparatus for utilizing a controller to monitor a flow volume in a fluid transportation system is disclosed. The controller being operably connected to a module. The module being operably connected to a flow meter. The modules senses a series of pulses that represent a known fluid volume in a proving loop. The module also measures the fluid density of the fluid in the proving loop. The controller utilizes a dynamic density of the fluid and the sensed pulses to determine a correction factor to more accurately calculate the flow volume through the measuring flow meter. The controller ensures the accuracy of the flow meter by utilizing the partial pulses sensed during a meter proving period by using an interpolation method.

    • An error correction and detection system for a dual-pulse output metering device is provided. The system detects errors in the dual-pulse output of the metering device by comparing the current phase difference between the pulse streams to a desired or known phase difference and generating an error signal if the current phase difference is different from the desired phase difference. If an error signal is generated, the system additionally accounts for the error and provides a corrected pulse count output by either discarding the extra pulse, or calculating the number of missed pulses, and adding the missing number of pulses to the pulse count output.

    • An electronic flow measurement device (EFM), for use in conjunction with a flow meter in a pressurized gas line, has a microprocessor and read-only memory (ROM), and calculates and records gas flow rates corrected for variable factors such as gas pressure, temperature, and density. Look-up tables stored in the ROM contain intermediate values calculated in accordance with selected protocols for selected ranges of input variables such as gas temperature, pressure, density, and turbine “K” factors. Based on inputs received from gas temperature and pressure sensors, the EFM selects corresponding intermediate values from the look-up tables, and then uses these values to calculate corrected gas flow rates, using software residing in the EFM. The microprocessor's power consumption is significantly reduced because the use of look-up tables reduces the complexity and extent of calculations that the EFM needs to perform, as compared with performing all required calculations in the EFM.

    • A system, method and program for calculating a fluid flow volume within a conduit having an operably connected flow meter is disclosed. The system includes a controller having a backplane. A flow meter module is operably connected to the backplane of the controller and to the flow meter. A program embedded within the controller is also operably connected to the flow meter. The program includes a plurality of segments for sensing a characteristic of the fluid for determining the flow volume of the fluid. The controller, in cooperation with the flow meter module, monitors the dynamic fluid density of the fluid in the conduit. The controller utilizes the dynamic density to determine a correction factor to more accurately calculate the fluid flow volume through the conduit.

    • The present invention relates to a system and a method for compensating for predicted meter drift in a positive displacement meter comprising: a pulser connected to the meter for generating a pulse stream indicative of a current volume delivered through the meter; and a pulse processor in electronic communication with the pulse generator. The pulse processor adds or subtracts pulses indicative of the inverse of the predicted meter drift to or from the pulse stream to create a corrected pulse stream. The amount of inverse applied is determined by the value of the current cumulative volume passed by the meter.

    • A gas turbine meter (20) includes a measuring cartridge (36) which has a measuring rotor (38) that rotates in one direction at a speed approximately proportional to the velocity of gas flowing through the meter (20) and a reference rotor mounted downstream of the measuring rotor (38) which rotates in the opposite direction from the measuring rotor. An inlet flow straightener (28) upstream of the measuring rotor causes gas to flow substantially axially within the meter, and a reference flow straightener mounted between the measuring rotor and the reference rotor also causes gas to flow substantially axially within the meter. A signal processor provides an indication of the accuracy of the gas turbine meter based on the quotient of a measuring signal, which is proportional to the speed of rotation of the measuring rotor, divided by a reference signal, which is proportional to the speed of rotation of the reference rotor.
