摘要： A protective suit for protecting personnel from explosive blast detonation and ballistic threats includes a rifle defeating flexible ballistic and fragmentation resistant inner body armor vest with coverage designed to wrap completely around a torso and abdomen of a body. It further includes an outer garment coupled to the inner body armor vest, such as by a quick release system; wherein the outer garment is a unitary garment dimensioned to cover the body from the base of the foot up to the head and outward to the wrists. A collar is attached to the outer garment, wherein the collar comprises a frontal yoke region for providing additional ballistic and fragmentation protection, and a helmet provides additional ballistic and fragmentation protection.

The glass can be chemically tempered and used to provide a ballistic viewing cover for night vision goggles or scope. A method is provided to change a glass making process from making a high infrared absorbing lithium glass having FeO in the range of 0.02 to 0,04 wt% and a redox ratio in the range of 0.2 to 0.4 to the low infrared absorbing lithium glass by adding additional oxidizers to the batch materials. A second method is provided to change a glass making process from making a low infrared absorbing lithium glass to the high infrared absorbing lithium glass by adding additional reducers to the batch material In one embodiment of the invention the oxidizer is CeO 2 . An embodiment of the invention covers a glass made according to the method.

The cover glass has a thickness ≤3mm. In another embodiment the cover glass thickness is ≤1mm. Additionally, a defrosting/defogging element is laminated between the cover glass and the strike face.

摘要： This disclosure is directed to laminates for transparent armor application and in particular to laminates comprising at least one layer of an intermediate or anomalous glass. Anomalous glasses include glasses with a SiO 2 content (in mol %) greater than 80 mol %, and the glasses can contain other elements that give the glass highly desirable properties such as impact resistance. Examples include Corning ULE glass 4 wt% to 2 with the remainder being SiO 2 , fused silica, and Vycor. An additional type of glass that can be used in the laminates described herein are "intermediate" glasses; for example, an aluminoborosilicate impact resistant glass comprising 60-72 mol% SiO 2 ; 9-16 mol% Al 2 O 3 ; 5-12 mol% B 2 O 3 ; 8-16 mol% Na 2 O; and 0-4 mol % K 2 O that is ion exchanged with potassium ions to form a chemically strengthened glass.

摘要： The invention relates to a method for the preparation of a transparent antiballistic article. The method comprises providing a plurality of anisotropic polymeric film layers, stacking the film layers to form an assembly and compressing the thus formed assembly at a temperature and pressure sufficient to consolidate the film layers, whereby the temperature is not more than 50°C below the melting temperature of the polymer, the pressure is at least 80 MPa and sufficiently high to obtain an optical transparency according of at least 50% transmission. The invention also relates to a ballistic resistant article having an energy absorption for 17 grain FSP according to the STANAG 2920 standard of at least 10 J/(kg/m2) and an optical transparency according of at least 50% transmission.
