A cooled airflow flows through the cavity (7) of the device along the body of the container. Cooling thereof takes place by means of an active cooling device (31), for instance a Peltier element. For rapid cooling a container for cooling is also placed on a passive cooling element (22) precooled to a temperature of for instance -18 °C, whereby the drink in the lower zone of the container is cooled rapidly. Since the drink is tapped from the container by means of a dip tube (14) which debouches close to the base of the container, a certain quantity of beverage with a drinking temperature of 4 °C - 7 °C can in this way already be tapped after a short time.
