    • The invention relates to a metal expansion anchor sleeve (1) comprising an expansion zone (11) at a forward end. In said expansion zone (11), the anchor sleeve (1) is subdivided into cylindrical shell-shaped expansion tongues (5) by means of slots (4). Loops (3) are folded on the inside of the expansion tongues (5) such that the anchor sleeve (1) can be expanded by introducing a pin-shaped expanding element (13). According to the invention, the expansion sleeve (1) comprises incisions (22) that extend from longitudinal edges (21) of the loops (3). The length of said incisions (22) corresponds to a wall thickness of the anchor sleeve (1). Furthermore, the loops (3) are folded such that apexes of the folds are flush with a forward edge (23) of the anchor sleeve (1). The folds of the loops (3) do not protrude from the anchor sleeve (1) towards the front, thus preventing the loops (3) from being torn off at the folds thereof when the anchored anchor sleeve (1) is subjected to tensile stress.

    • In a system and method for installing an anchor, an anchor having a tubular body with a hollow interior, a proximal end defining an annular aperture in communication with the interior, and a longitudinal slot formed in the body is positionable within a hole drilled in a base material. The body has a continuous and uninterrupted outer surface, with the exception of the slot, in both rest and expanded conditions. An expander is linearly drivable through the anchor's proximal end into the interior to induce the anchor to expand at a given circumferential region while minimizing stress concentrations in, and being anchored to, the base material, by virtue of the uninterrupted outer surface. In one embodiment, a driving tool transmits a hammering action generated by a power tool to the expander by a mating element, and alternatively transmits torque to a self-drilling anchor by a spline engageable with the slot.
