    • The invention relates to a method for compression refining of fibers for papermaking, wherein a slurry of fibers with a consistency of between about 2 wt% and 20 wt% of dry fibers in water is subjected to compression forces in an apparatus comprising at least two rolling surfaces with substantially the same velocity. At least one of the surfaces is curved, such that the surfaces move towards each other to achieve a compression force. The position of smallest distance between the surfaces is a closest position. At least one surface is provided with bars and grooves, the bars being at most 16 mm wide and the grooves being sufficiently large to aid in having water pressed out of the paper slurry. The relative speed of the surfaces to each other is such that water leaves the paper slurry upon reaching the closest position, and wherein the bars compress the fibers.

    • In a method for producing nanofibrillar cellulose, cellulose based fibre material, in which internal bonds in cellulose fibres have been weakened by preliminary modification of cellulose, is subjected to disintegration treatment in form of pulp comprising fibres and liquid. The fibre material is supplied at a consistency higher than 10 wt-%, preferably at least 15 wt-%, to a disintegration treatment where fibrils are detached from the fibre material by joint effect of repeated impacts to the fibre material by fast moving successive elements and the weakened internal bonds of the cellulose fibres. The nanofibrillar cellulose is withdrawn from the disintegration treatment at dry matter which is equal or higher than the consistency of the fibre material. In the disintegration treatment, the fibre material is supplied through several counter-rotating rotors (R1, R2, R3...) outwards in the radial direction with respect to the rotation axis (RA) of the rotors in such a way that the material is repeatedly subjected to shear and impact forces by the effect of the blades (1) of the different counter-rotating rotors.

    • The object of the invention is a method for processing pulp stock derived from a pulp or paper mill, which pulp stock contains fibres and/or any other components, such as mineral components, in order to disperse the agglomerations in the pulp stock. The method is characterised in that the pulp stock is supplied to an apparatus operating according to the principle of a double action impact mill (the double action impact mill (20)). The apparatus comprises: a first rotor (11) provided with blades; a second rotor (12), which is coaxial with the first rotor and provided with blades and which is arranged to rotate in a direction being opposite to that of the first rotor; and a feeding opening (14) which opens out to the nave of the rotors. Pulp stock is supplied to the feeding opening (14) which opens to the rotor naves and is caused to flow via the blades of the rotors (11, 12) arranged within each other, to the outermost rotor ring, and to be discharged from there as a discharge flow from the apparatus. The invention also relates to an apparatus for performing the method.

    • The present invention relates to a method for defibrating fibre-containing material in a device operating with the pin mill principle.
