The enclosure of the washing machine includes an access opening (15) that aligns with the assess hole (110) of the drum (100). A motor (300) of the washing machine is coupled to both the drum door (200) and the drum (100) itself. Thus, the motor (300) can be used to rotate the drum (100) and the door (200) during washing operations. A clutch unit (400) selectively couples and decouples the motor (300) from the drum (100) so that the drum door (200) can be rotated with respect to the drum (100) to open and close the access hole (110) of the drum (100).

The integrated processing unit (1204) includes a housing (1250), as well upper and lower housing access doors (1264,1278). A perforated and rotatable basket (1300) is disposed within the housing (1250), and includes multiple, removable basket access doors (1330). Multiple balancing tubes (1314), each having a pair of chambers (1318a, 1318b), are disposed within the basket (1300). A heater (1292) is provided for evaporating liquid from a laundry batch within the basket (1300), and cooling coils (1290) are provided for condensing these vapors. Both the heater (1292) and cooling coils (1290) are disposed within the housing (1250).
