摘要： A process and system for recovering natural gas liquids (NGL) using a combination of J-T cooling and membrane separation. The process involves compressing, separating, and cooling a flare gas stream comprising at least methane and C 3+ hydrocarbons prior to being introduced to a J-T valve. The cooled stream exiting the J-T valve is further separated, producing a NGL product stream and an uncondensed gas stream. The uncondensed gas stream is directed to a membrane separation step, which results in a C 3+ hydrocarbon enriched stream and a C3+ hydrocarbon depleted stream. The C 3+ hydrocarbon enriched stream may be recycled back to the process to recover more NGL.

摘要： A system and process for removing divalent ions from a MEG feed stream (15) is presented. The system includes a chemical treatment tank (25) where chemicals are mixed with the feed stream (15) to form insoluble carbonate and hydroxide salts. The system also includes a membrane-type solid-liquid separation unit (60) that receives the feed stream (35) from the chemical treatment tank (25) and separates it into a filtrate (90) containing MEG and a retentate (130) containing the insoluble salts. The system may also include washing the retentate (130) to remove additional MEG, which is then recycled to a MEG regeneration or reclamation process. The system may also include a dryer (140) that receives waste slurry (132) from the solid-liquid separation unit (60) and dries it to form a solid waste, thereby facilitating its handling, storage, and disposal.

The method includes operating a controlled freeze zone section in a distillation tower that separates a feed stream at a temperature and pressure at which the feed stream forms a solid in the controlled freeze zone section, wherein the feed stream includes a first contaminant; maintaining a melt tray assembly in the controlled freeze zone section; introducing the feed stream to the controlled freeze zone section; and accumulating a liquid in the melt tray assembly until the liquid is at a predetermined liquid level in the controlled freeze zone section, by: feeding a second contaminant to the controlled freeze zone section; and adding the second contaminant to the melt tray assembly, wherein the liquid comprises the second contaminant.

The microfluidic device has a first inlet port, an outlet port, and a microchannel as part of a fluid path between the first inlet port and the outlet port. While generating a flow of the fluid through the microchannel of the microfluidic device, fluid pressure at the first inlet port of the microfluidic device is measured and recorded in conjunction with varying the controlled temperature of the microchannel of the microfluidic device to characterize the properties of the fluid that flows through the microchannel of the microfluidic device. The properties of the fluid can relate to the clathrate hydrate formation condition of the fluid at the pressure of the flow through the microchannel of the microfluidic device.

In that the use of a distillation column or tower is not needed, the present invention enables a more compact system, which also improves the possibility for heat integration of the regeneration process leading to very low energy consumption. Additional improvements over the prior art include reduced cost of buying new chemicals, reduced environmental impact because the chemicals are not discharged with the produced water and the possibility for the use of higher concentrations of kinetic hydrate inhibitor with still reduced cost and environmental impact.
