摘要： A crosslinkable phase-stable composition, in particular for coating primed and unprimed substrates comprising from 10 to 80 percent by weight of a hydroxy functional polydiene polymer having a functionality of at least 1.3, 8 to 60 percent by weight of an amino resin crosslinking agent, and 2 to 40 percent by weight of a reinforcing agent. The invention also encompasses a process to make such compositions by partially reacting the three components, preferably for 0.5 to 10 hours at 60 to 120 DEG C, and optionally in the presence of a small amount of catalyst, to give phase stable compositions and subsequently completely crosslinking the composition. The invention also encompasses a process for painting a substrate which comprises priming the substrate with a primer selected from the group consisting of epoxy resin primers and polyester resin primers, applying to the primed substrate a crosslinkable basecoat composition comprising from 10 to 80 percent by weight of a hydroxy functional polydiene polymer having a functionality of at least 1.3, from 8 to 60 percent by weight of an amino resin crosslinking agent, and from 2 to 40 percent by weight of a reinforcing agent, and applying over the base coat a clearcoat selected from the group consisting of dihydroxy polydiene-based clearcoats, polyester clearcoats, and acrylic clearcoats.

摘要： The present invention is directed to a method of producing an adherent coating over untreated thermoplastic and thermosetting resinous substrates from a coating composition that includes a crosslinkable component and a crosslinking component that are mixed prior to application and applied over the substrate. The crosslinkable component includes a polymeric mix containing at least one crosslinkable copolymer polymerized from a monomer mixture comprising one or more ethylenically unsaturated monomers having on average 1 to 10, preferably 1 to 4 and more preferably 1 to 2 hydroxyl groups and a saturated hydrocarbon polymer. The crosslinkable component includes one or more cycloaliphatic polyisocyanate of the formula: R 1 (R 2 -NCO) n wherein R 1 is a substituted or unsubstituted cycloaliphatic group, R 2 is independently selected from a direct bond, a straight aliphatic group or branched aliphatic group, and wherein n ranges from 2 to 10. The method is well suited to produce adherent coatings on olefinic substrates such as those used in automotive and general commercial application without any pretreatment of the resinous substrates.

摘要： A liquid coating composition has: from about 5 to 45 percent by weight of resin solids of substantially saturated polyhydroxylated polydiene polymer having terminal hydroxyl groups; from about 10 to 50 percent by weight of resin solids of crosslinking material; from about 5 to 85 percent by weight of resin solids of polymeric film forming resin; and solvent. The solvent has at least 5 percent by weight of the solvent composition consisting of water; and/or at least one organic solvent having Hansen Solubility Parameters Spo from about 8.0 to 10.0 (cal/cm ) , Sph from about 0.5 to 5.0 (cal/cm ) , and Spp from about 0.2 to 3.0 (cal/cm ) ; and/or mixtures thereof. The liquid coating composition can be solvent-based or aqueous-based and can additionally contain at least one pigment. The liquid coating composition can be coated directly onto thermoplastic and thermosetting plastic substrates, such as TPO and RIM, without the aid of flame or corona pretreatment, or the use of an adhesion promoter. A method of coating plastic substrates comprising the use of the liquid coating composition and a plastic article coated with the liquid coating composition are also disclosed.

摘要： An icephobic coating composition forms a coating layer that melts ice and snow upon contract and remains durable after several exposures to winter storms. The icephobic coating composition includes about 2.5% to about 12.5% by weight of latex polymer solids; about 30% to about 70% by weight of an inorganic halide salt; about 15% to about 50% by weight water; and about 1% to about 15% by weight of an organic co-solvent selected from glycerin, glycols, and glycol ethers. An alternative icephobic coating composition includes about 1% to about 20% by weight of a solution polymer instead of a latex polymer, and about 10% to about 40% by weight of a VOC-exempt organic solvent instead of the foregoing water and co- solvent.
