摘要： A high energy ignitable composition provides a safe and easily handleable replacement for a low smoking or smokeless black powder. The composition is formed by intimately and homogeneously blending 6 to 15 weight percent potassium perchlorate, 45 to 55 % by weight nitrate-containing oxidizing agent, and 30 to 49 % by weight of organic acid fuel, such as ascorbic acid or erythorbic acid, or the sodium salts of these acids. These compositions can provide a heat of combustion in excess of 700 calories per gram, which includes a combustion gas volume of at least 280 cubic centimeters per gram. The ingredients of the composition are present in the form of primary particles having an average particle size of from 1 to 50 microns which have been compacted at a pressure of from 250 to 20,000 pounds per square inch. A consumable cartridge includes a molded cartridge case from the ignitable composition.

The anti-fouling composition may have at least one salt and at least one acid. The acid may be anhydrous. The salt may be sodium chloride or sodium nitrate. The acid may be anhydrous citric acid. The anti-fouling composition may have at least one abrasive. The abrasive may be stannic acid. The anti-fouling composition may be 50% salt by weight and 50% acid by weight.

摘要： The invention relates to a substance mixture for the production of gases, particularly propellant gases for passenger protection devices in motor vehicles. The substance mixture consists of a thermally initiatable ignition mixture which comprises at least one inorganic oxidizing agent from the group of chlorates and at least one second oxidizing agent from the group of nitrates. The invention is characterized in that the ignition mixture contains at least one combustible which is selected from the class of substances consisting of dicarboxilic acids, tricarboxylic acids, amino acids, carboxylic acid amides, carboxylic acid hydrazides, carboxylic acid diamides, carboxylic acid dihydrides and/or derivatives thereof. The invention also relates to the use of the substance mixture as a thermally initiatable ignition mixture in a gas generator for the production of propellant gases for passenger protection devices in motor vehicles.
