    • The present invention relates to a media skew adjusting apparatus of an automatic media dispenser. In the present invention, coupling gears that are the last gears of a power transmission unit are mounted to both ends of an interlocking rotational shaft, which has both the ends rotatably supported on frame plates. The power transmission unit serves to transmit driving force of a driving source. First and second clutches are provided to be coupled to the coupling gears, wherein the clutches selectively transmit the driving force of the driving source. First and second driving shafts are rotatably installed to the frame plates together with the first and second clutches, respectively. Feed rollers for conveying a medium are installed on the driving shafts, respectively. Idle rollers are installed in correspondence to the feed rollers, respectively. In the meantime, brake assemblies are further employed for more accurately controlling the rotations of the feed rollers. According to the present invention, there is an advantage in that it is possible to securely adjust skew of a medium to thereby enhance the operational performance of the automatic media dispenser.

    • Provided is a device (1) for the alignment of sheets in a printing machine, said device comprising two pairs of rollers for the alignment of the sheets in their advance direction, for the alignment transverse to their advance direction and with respect to skewing, whereby each pair of rollers consists of a driving roller (20a, 20b) and of a counter-pressure roller (22a, 22b). One drive unit (29, 32, 36, 38) is provided for each of the two driving rollers, whereby each of the drive units consists of a motor (38a, 38b) and a drive shaft (29a, 29b) linked therewith, whereby the driving rollers are non-torsionally accommodated on respective drive shafts. The driving rollers can be slid in linear direction on their drive shaft, or the respective drive shafts, and thus the driving rollers accommodated thereon, can be linearly shifted with respect to their drive motors. Furthermore, a shifting unit (45) with a drive motor (47) is provided for shifting the driving rollers in a direction transverse to the advance direction of a sheet, whereby the shifting unit is configured in such a manner, that it moves both driving rollers in a synchronous manner. In a method for the alignment of sheets in a device of the aforementioned type, a skew of a sheet in the device is initially detected and, based on the detected skew, a rotary motion of the driving rollers is individually controlled in order to perform a skew correction. Furthermore, a position of the sheet transverse to its advance direction is detected and a shift of the driving rollers transverse to the advance direction of the sheet is controlled in order to bring said sheet into a pre-specif ied position in a direction transverse to its advance direction.

    • A sheet retention device is provided for retaining at least one sheet. The sheet retention device comprises a sheet supporting means (56) for supporting at least a first portion of the sheet, a rotatable guiding means (50) configured to enclose a second portion of the sheet, an urging means (61) and a drive means for in operation controllably rotating the rotatable guiding means. The rotatable guiding means comprises a passageway (55) arranged through the rotatable guiding means, which passageway is configured to enclose the second portion of the sheet, the passageway having an entrance portion (55a) at one side of the rotatable guiding means and an exit portion (55b) at another side of the rotatable guiding means. The rotatable guiding means comprises an outer surface (51) and a sheet deflecting surface (53), such that in operation during at least part of a revolution of the rotatable guiding means a portion of the sheet is guided by the sheet deflecting surface into a sheet retaining position (60). The sheet retaining position is defined by the outer surface of the rotatable guiding means and the urging means. The urging means are urged against a portion of the outer surface of the rotatable guiding means.
