    • A portioning unit for a filling installation for filling preserve cans with viscous, pasty or lumpy material comprises at least one cylinder unit which travels along a sealing plate. A lower part (12) is provided with a first borehole (10) for the passage of filling material and with an annular spring (14) arranged concentrically with respect to said borehole. An upper part (18), which carries the sealing plate (22), is provided with a second borehole (16) for the passage of material and with an annular groove (20) concentric with the second borehole (16), which receives the annular spring (14). The depth of the annular groove (20) is greater than the height of the annular spring (14). The annular groove (20) receives an elastic annular tube (24).

    • Embodiments of the invention include apparatus (102) for filling containers and related methods. In an embodiment, an apparatus (102) is included for filling containers including a filler frame (104), a rotary turret assembly (106), a filler plenum assembly (302), piston assemblies (112), a cam track (306), and a fluid supply group (114). The cam track (306) can include a first rising portion (602), a second rising portion (604), a first declining portion (606), a first flat portion (608), and a second declining portion (610). The piston assemblies (112) can move within the plurality of hollow columns (110) and can include a piston body (406) and a top hat assembly (408). The top hat assembly (408) can include a cam contact member (202) and a release lever (206). The release lever (206) can allow the piston body (406) and the top hat assembly (408) to release from one another. In some embodiments, the apparatus for filling containers (102) can also include a container conveyor system (120) and/or a fluid supply group (114). Other embodiments are included herein.

    • A moulding wheel (20) is arranged above a loading run (16) upon which a strip of packing material (P) lies horizontally and displaceable in the longitudinal direction, with a central axis (22) transverse to the loading run (16) and about which the above may be driven in rotation. The moulding wheel has a cylindrical outer surface (24) and contains several moulds (32) arranged radially in relation to the central axis (22) with an angular separation from the cylindrical outer surface (24). The circumferential speed of the moulding wheel (20) corresponds to a slip-free rolling of the outer surface (24) thereof on the packing material (P). Each mould contains a piston (50), which may be displaced back and forth between a withdrawn position, for filling the mould (32) with mass (M) and a projecting position, for the radial outwards ejection of the solidified moulded body (F) onto the packaging material (P). The moulding wheel sequentially runs through a filling region (34) in which the moulds are filled with mass (M), a residence region (36), after which the mass (M) is in the form to be adopted of a moulded body (F) which may be packed and a depositing region (38), in which each moulded body (F) is deposited directly on the packing material (P) from the mould (32) thereof.
