    • Disclosed is a method of making a wheel assembly such as a pulley (3) with a bearing (1). A wheel (3) is molded from a material that shrinks when its temperature falls from a temperature above 100 DEG F to room temperature. The wheel (3) has a circular opening (2) at its center suitable for holding a circular bearing (1). The diameter of the circular opening (2) when the wheel (3) is at a temperature above 100 DEG F is greater than the diameter of the circular bearing (1) and is less than the diameter of the circular bearing (1) when the wheel is at room temperature. The bearing (1) is positioned inside the opening (2) when the wheel (3) is at a temperature above 100 DEG F. The wheel (3) is cooled to room temperature and shrinks around the bearing (1), thereby fixing the bearing (1) to the wheel (3). Also disclosed is a wheel assembly made by this method.

    • In a method for creating a blow moulded product comprising the steps of extruding a parison tube (3) into a cavity formed between opposite halves of a mould (5), pinching off end portions of the parison via crimping apparatus (7 and 9), admitting high pressure compressed gas into the inner portion of the parison tube via a gas blow pin or needle (11) for inflating the tube against the opposite halves of the mould and thereby create the blow moulded product, the improvement comprising the steps of projecting an undercut dowel (13) from an inner wall of at least one of the opposite halves of the mould such that the parison forms around and conforms to the shape of the dowel, retracting the dowel into the wall thereby leaving an undercut in the parison in the shape of the dowel, removing the blow moulded product from the mould and inserting pin portions (19 and 21) of an appendage (17) into the undercut prior to cooling of the parison whereby the undercut shrinks around the pin portions during cooling to form a secure connection of the appendage to the product.

    • A multilayered blow molding formed of thermoplastic resin layers of a plurality of kinds, and a technical issue of the invention is to obtain a multilayered blow molding adapted to be firmly solidified in normal use thereof without separation and can be readily separated when recycled and reused for respective layers formed of different resins and/or respective areas in a peripheral direction. The multilayered blow molding is constituted such that in a convexly curved portion where a multilayered area of a peripheral wall composed of multiple layers projects substantially convexly from inside to outside, an outer layer is formed of a resin having a greater mold shrinkage rate than that of a resin which forms an inner layer, and in a concavely curved portion where the multilayered area of the peripheral wall sinks substantially concavely from outside to inside, an outer layer is formed of a resin having a smaller mold shrinkage rate than that of a resin which forms an inner layer whereby the respective layers in the entire molding are secured to one another in a fitted condition by clamp forces produced due to differences in mold shrinkage rate among resins which form the respective layers and/or respective areas in a peripheral direction in the multilayered area of the peripheral wall. As a main use, the invention is widely applicable to a field of large-sized industrial products such as bumpers for automobiles.
