    • A blow molding apparatus (10) including four moulds (21, 22, 23, 24) that move into a common parison receiving position (26) from directions different from the directions that the molds move out of the parison receiving position (26). When in the parison receiving position (26), each mold receives, encloses and severs a length of parison then shapes the parison during blow molding. The third radial direction is angularly spaced between the first and second radial directions. Two additional blow molds (23, 24) alternatively move form the parison receiving position (26) in the respective first and second radial directions (36, 40) to the respective outer positions (38, 39), to a common article take-out position (46) and then back to the parison receiving position (26) from a fourth radial direction (98). The fourth radial direction is angularly spaced between the first and second radial directions and is generally opposite the third radial direction (96).

    • Highly versatile, high-performance, rectilinear machine for blow-moulding bottles or other containers obtained from parisons produced by one or more extruders, said machine being of the type comprising four carriages with associated mould units (S1, S2, S1', S2') movable along horizontal and mutually perpendicular axes, with one mould which cyclically loads parisons removing them from a plasticization head (F) served by at least one associated extruder (E) and which is then displaced for the blow-moulding step, while the other mould opens and prepares for unloading the bottles formed in the previous cycle and then for insertion underneath the said plasticization head, each mould having, associated with it, a blowing station which follows the said mould during the displacement on its primary carriage (3, 3') but not during the movement on the secondary carriages (10, 10') for insertion inside and extraction from the station with the plasticization head and at least one centralized pair of grippers (P1, P2) being provided alongside each said primary carriage (3, 3') and in alignment with the plasticization head, said grippers performing extraction of the bottles formed from each mould and from the associated blowing station and performing transfer of the said bottles into the following finishing stations and finally onto an unloading path, said machine being of a type characterized in that it uses two plasticization heads (F1, F2) and in that it comprises means for ensuring that one of these heads (F1) is used always and only by the right-hand moulds (S1, S2) and that the other plasticization head (F2) is used only and always by the left-hand moulds (S1', S2').
