    • Known charging stations for chargeable hand-held electrical apparatus, especially hair cutters, have a base for a hand-held electric apparatus into which the hand-held apparatus can be inserted or onto which it can be fitted, as well as a power connection. The charging station is connected in an electrically conductive manner to the hand-held apparatus positioned on the base via electrical contacts. The hand-held apparatus can be positioned on the base at any angle to the direction of insertion or fitting while maintaining an electric contact. The base also features a receiving pin onto which the hand-held apparatus can be fitted, a recess for receiving the receiving pin being provided for on the hand-held apparatus. To obtain a charging station (1) for hand-held electrical apparatus (10) which further simplifies the placement of the hand-held apparatus onto the charging station the invention provides for a receiving pin (7) which tapers conically towards its free end and a recess (11) which enlargens conically towards its open end. The receiving pin (7) and recess (11) are configured in such a way that the hand-held apparatus placed onto the receiving pin (7) at an angle inclined towards the vertical automatically moves into a vertical position as a result of being guided by the receiving pin (7).

    • A shaving system with two main components: an electric shaver (1) and a remote device (2) which has a display unit (13) for presenting specific data to the user. The remote device (2) may further comprise a mirror. The mirror and the display unit may be combined to form a single unit (13). The display unit may be incorporated in the mirror, which for this purpose may be implemented as a partly transparent mirror with the display unit mounted on the backside of the mirror. Additionally, the remote device (2) may perform the function of charging stand for a rechargeable battery of the shaver (1). In that case the remote device (2) has a docking bay (14) for receiving the shaver (1). The shaver's battery is charged via electrical contacts between the remote device (2) and the electric shaver (1), or by means of coils in the remote device (2) and the shaver (1). The display unit displays status information of the shaver (1) and provides feedback to the user during shaving. The remote device (2) may further be implemented with knobs, buttons or slide controls (3) to adjust shaving parameters in the shaver (1). Also environmental sensors may be incorporated in the remote device to inform the electric shaver of information relevant to shaving comfort. The data exchange between the remote device and the electric shaver is performed through wireless communication, which for some functions is a two-way communication.

    • A high-speed low cost dry shaver includes a cutting assembly driven by a drive assembly. The drive assembly includes a motor and an associated drive shaft for operating the cutting reciprocations greater than eight thousand cycles per minute for the high-speed shearing operation. A replaceable battery supply is disposed within the shaver and operatively connected to the drive assembly as a sole supply of power to the drive assembly. Alternative rechargeable energy supplies are not included. A cam assembly is interposed between the motor and the cutting assembly for translating motor revolutions to cutting reciprocations. The cam assembly directly translates motor revolutions to the cutting reciprocations without reducing or 'enhancing operating cutting speeds. The shaver is included in a packaging assembly which makes a switch assembly of the shaver accessible to a user so that the user may move the switch assembly into a first operating position operable with only a continuous manual exertion while the shaver is disposed in the package for effecting a demonstrative operation. A second operating position of the switch assembly turns the shaver on, but can only be accessed after the shaver is removed from the packaging. The second operating position is inhibited from unintended acquisition by a protective portion of the packaging.
