    • A plasma-arc cutting machine and a method of controlling the same, wherein a rise compensation circuit (39) and a transfer compensation circuit (44) consisting of a charge/discharge capacitor and a resistor are inserted in parallel between an electrode side connection (21) and a nozzle side connection (35) and between the electrode side connection (21) and a connection (34) of the side of a material to be cut. On the connection of the side of the material to be cut, furthermore, a diode (33) is inserted between a connection point (36) of the nozzle side connection and a connection point (43) of the transfer compensation circuit. A detector (31) for current control is provided on the electrode side connection at a point more close to the electrode side than a connection point (37) of the rise compensation circuit, and a detector (32) for detecting the transfer is provided on the connection of the side of the material to be cut at a point more close to the material to be cut than the connection point (43) of the transfer compensation circuit. Further, to carry out the operation from perforation through up to cutting, provision is made of at least a plasma torch (14a) for perforation and a plasma torch (14b) for cutting. Moreover, a voltage between the electrode (14) and the material (17) to be cut is detected, or a voltage between the nozzle (15) and the material (17) to be cut is detected, and the power source is stopped when the voltage exceeds a preset value. Therefore, the prior arc transfers easily into the main arc, and the cutting is effected using a specially provided plasma torch preventing the generation of double arcing and contributing to improving cutting precision and cutting efficiency.
