摘要： A gliding board may have less resistance to bending in portions within one or both binding mounting regions as compared to portions at or near ends of the binding mounting regions. Some embodiments provide for increased ability to store and release energy when performing certain maneuvers with the board, such as nose presses, ollies and similar moves. Regions of greatest stiffness may be arranged at outer ends of the binding mounting regions, and may be arranged along lines that are transverse to a longitudinal axis of the board. Alternately, a board may include heel and toe convex portions in the heel and toe side edges that are offset along the board length, e.g., so that the heel convex portions are closer to each other and to a longitudinal board center than the toe convex portions.

摘要： The invention disclosed herein provides a replaceable edge cassette for skis or a snowboard. The skis have a top, a base, a core, two sides, and edges along the sides of the base. The cassette includes an edge portion removably secured adjacent the base of the ski. The edge portion has an attachment portion for securing the edge portion to the ski and a peripheral portion for contact with the surface to be ridden. The cassette includes a sidewall portion secured to the edge portion. A fastener is connectable through the sidewall portion to be secured to the ski adjacent the core. Base material is also secured beneath the removable edge portion so as to be adjacent the main base portion when the cassette is secured to the side of the ski. The edge cassette is removable and replaceable by removing the fasteners secured through the sidewall. The edge alone may also be separately replaceable by removing it from the sidewall portion.

The additional sliding surfaces (4) extend in the longitudinal direction of the ski at least from the first and second transition lines A-A' and E-E' respectively towards a transversal line C-C' behind the middle of the ski and in that section of the ski where the binding is attached, the width of the ski at the line C-C' being equal to the smallest width of the ski between line A-A' and E-E'. The uplift (Hs) in a lower lateral edge (7a, b) on the additional sliding surfaces (4) substantially increases with the ski's increasing width in the direction of the lines A-A' and E-E' respectively.

摘要： A process is disclosed for producing a ski edge made of quenched and subsequently tempered steel having a head (2) that comprises the running surface and a flank (4) that projects into the body of the ski. The profiled edge (1) is at first rolled, then quenched and subsequently tempered over its whole cross-section. Afterwards, the flank (4) is partially tempered and provided in a separate operation with punched out openings. In order to obtain with this process a totally straight ski edge, the deviation in Rockwell hardness, seen in the direction of the cross-section and length of the profiled edge is set at less than 2° HRC during quenching and subsequent tempering of the whole profiled edge. The warming-up temperature and duration during partial warming-up of the edge are the same over the whole length of the profiled edge and the profiled edge is subjected to a constant bending strain before being punched.
