摘要： A film that is biodegradable in that it loses its integrity over time is provided. The biodegradable film includes from about 1 wt.% to about 49 wt. % by weight of the film of a matrix phase including at least one biodegradable polyester, and from about 46 wt.% to about 75 wt.% by weight of the film of a dispersed phase comprising at least one oxidized starch and at least one plasticizer, wherein the dispersed phase is dispersed in the matrix phase, and further wherein the wt.% by weight of the film of the matrix phase is less than the wt.% by weight of the film of the dispersed phase.. The desired attributes of film may be achieved in the present invention by selectively controlling a variety of aspects of the film construction, such as the nature of the components employed, the relative amount of each component, the manner in which the film is formed, and so forth.

摘要： The invention provides novel polyesters, fibers and films, nonwovens from the fibers and disposable products of the polyesters such as diapers. The products are degradable under the conditions typically existing in waste composting processes, have low ingredient costs and yet provide strength and toughness properties adequate for end uses such as in disposable diapers. The copolyesters are based upon polyethylene terephthaltate copolymerized with a monomer containing an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal sulfo group, a polyethylene ether, such as diethylene glycol, and include units from aliphatic hydroxyacids selected for their melting points being lower than their decomposition temperatures.

In one exemplary embodiment, a disposable diaper includes a topsheet, a backsheet and an absorbent element interposed between the topsheet and backsheet. The backsheet and topsheet are made from a bicomponent spunbond nonwoven material including a renewable polymer and a nonrenewable thermoplastic polymer. The bicomponent spunbond nonwoven material contains an inner core including the renewable polymer and an outer sheath including the nonrenewable thermoplastic polymer.

摘要： Disposable sanitary articles comprise paper treated with polycationic latexes as wet-strength agents. The paper has sufficient wet strength that it can serve as the backsheet for absorbent articles, garments, and the like. Thus, Kymene R is reacted, for example, with acrylic acid and cross-linked with styrene/butadiene to provide a polycationic latex which is used to treat paper to enhance its wet strength. Diapers, sanitary napkins, pantiliners, and the like, prepared from the foregoing material are disclosed.
