    • Orthodontic force modules and assemblies for use in correcting class II and/or class III malocclusions include an elongate hollow outer body extending between proximal and distal ends, a plunger, spring, and push rod. The plunger and push rod are slidably received within different ends of the hollow outer body. The spring is positioned within the hollow outer body and provides an expansion force during use as the force modules or assemblies is compressed (e.g., when closing the jaw). The expansion force provides a desired corrective force for corrective Class II and/or III malocclusions. The outer body, plunger, spring, and push rod can be configured in a telescoping relationship in order for the components to be telescopically compressed and expanded during use. The distal end can include a bendable pin or latch mechanism for attachment to a buccal tube. The push rod can include a hook, hole, or slot for attachment to an archwire. Various connectors for coupling an orthodontic force module to a buccal tube portion of a molar bracket are also disclosed.

    • The invention comprises an orthodontic dental distractor for rapid orthodontic tooth movement, particularly into a fresh extraction socket. The rapid movement can occur from the effect of distraction osteogenesis. The device can include four components: a molar tooth band (12) with buccal tube (16, 22), a canine tooth band (14) with buccal tube (18, 24), a threaded screw (15), and a screw retaining clip (20). The threaded screw is engaged internally to the molar band tube which is threaded internally. The screw head bears externally on the anterior (mesial) end of the clip, and the clip bears externally on the canine band tube so that when the screw is turned the canine tooth moves distally toward the molar tooth. Thus the movement of a tooth can be controlled to proceed at a rapid and prescribed rate.

    • The invention is a buccal tube for securing an orthodontic wire to a tooth. The device includes a base or flange for attaching to a tooth and one or more tubes fixed to the base, each tube having a bore for receiving an arch wire. The tube bore includes mesial and distal ends and a center portion. The center bore portion has a shape and dimension for receiving and securing the wire. Both the mesial and distal bore ends of the tube are flared to accommodate receiving the arch wire, particularly when extending an arch wire from a first mesial buccal tube to a second distal buccal tube as adjacent molars are engaged in the orthodontic process.

    • A lingual orthodontic assembly (112) for developing a patient's arch is disclosed, and component parts thereof which may have use in other treatment applications. One of the lingual arch developers disclosed uses magnets to have an effect on the mesial advancement of the lingual arch. The lingual arch of this development may be interconnected with the patient by a connector which includes at least one and preferably two vertical posts (310) which are insertable into corresponding vertical tubes (298) fixed to a band (302) on a patient's tooth. At least one generally horizontal tube (342) is connected with these posts. In one embodiment this tube (342) is gingival disposed to, for instance, slidably interface with a lingual arch (114). This connector may be used as an interface between the patient and other orthodontic appliances as well. For instance, the noted tube on the connector may be generally gingival disposed to, for instance, interface with a palatal expander.
