    • A compressible insulating material (10a, 10b, 10c, 10d, 20, 30) for use in active garments and other gear is provided herein. The material comprises an insulating material including one or more types of fiber, with portions of the insulating material removed or cut to improve the warmth-to-weight and compression characteristics of the insulating material. In some embodiments, the insulating material is an elastic insulating material (10a, 10b, 10c, 22, 30) that defines perforations (14a, 14b, 16a, 16b, 24, 26, 32, 34) or other features (14c, 16c) that expand or contract depending on stretching or relaxation of the elastic insulating material. Stretching and relaxation may vary an insulating property of the compressible, low-weight insulating material. The material may further be secured to a stretch-resistant material (36) to provide a reference point for stretching and for and elastic memory. A garment (50) comprising one or more panels of a compressible, low-weight insulating material as described herein is also provided. Strategic placement of the insulating material can improve ventilation of the garment during activities.

    • The invention relates to a method for guiding a runner along a predetermined running path. To allow an easy and effective navigation during sports, the method comprises the steps of a) Determining the actual position of the runner by means of a GPS module; b) Assigning of the actual position of the runner to a position along the predetermined running or walking path; c) Determining whether the runner has to continue the predetermined running or walking path straight ahead or by turning to the left or by turning to the right; d) Controlling of at least two light emitting elements which are arranged at or in a garment which is worn by the runner, wherein at least one left light emitting element is located in a left hand region of the garment and wherein at least one right light emitting element is located in a right hand region of the garment, wherein no activation of the light emitting elements is carried out when the walker is to supposed to continue straight ahead; or the at least one left light emitting element is activated when the walker is supposed to turn left; or the at least one right light emitting element is activated when the walker is supposed to turn right. Furthermore, the invention relates to a device for guiding the runner along the predetermined running path (2).

    • Methods for stabilizing insulation and constructing garments from the insulation are disclosed. Methods include arranging the fibers into a plurality of bundle structures. The fibers may be synthetic fibers. The method may include receiving the bundle structures into bundle channels. The bundle channels are formed by tacks. The bundle channels enable the uniform distribution of the bundle structures prior to stitching quilting stitch lines. Multiple quilting stitch lines are stitched after the bundle structures are uniformly distributed. The quilting stitch lines are orthogonal to the longitudinal axis of the bundle structures. The quilting stitch lines provide lateral as well as longitudinal stabilization of the uniform density of the bundle structures. The distance between the quilting stitch lines may be based on the loft of the fibers and/or a required durability of the garment. The quilting stitch lines are generally horizontal, while the longitudinal axis of the bundle structures are vertical.

    • The embodiments described herein disclose a convertible garment. The garment includes two sleeves, a garment front, a garment rear, and zippers arranged along each side of the garment rear. Zippers located along lower portions of each sleeve attach to the zippers arranged along the garment rear, while a garment neck portion folds and is secured via fastening means to the top portion of the garment. Manipulation of the garment into a closed position allows drawstrings to be pulled so that the garment forms a non-rigid container, thereby providing a storage space for items.
