摘要： A device for controlling blood-feeding insects is disclosed. The device includes a membrane containing a solution suitable for consumption by blood-feeding insects wherein the solution is comprised of a base, the base selected from the group consisting of up to 70 wt % NaCl in water, phosphate buffer, citric acid in water, and sodium lauryl sulfate in water,; and wherein the solution has a pH of between about 6 and 8. An additional active ingredient may be added to the solution. The solution may be referred to as liquid bait. The membrane is suitable for blood-feeding insects to pierce or puncture in order to feed. A method of exterminating or controlling blood feeding insects is also disclosed along with novel bait solutions.

摘要： A bait station (10) for crawling insects includes a base (12) and a cover (14) fastened to the base. The base (12) includes a bait cup (16) bisected by a divider wall (21) so that different baits may be offered to the insects. The cover (14) has a roof (40) that is spaced above and spans over the bait cup (16) so that insects may crawl through doorways (46) formed in the cover (14) to access the bait in the bait cup. A support rib (56) extends downwardly from the roof to engage the bait cup (16) and divider wall (21) to not only provide crush resistance and support for the roof but also to provide a bait retention feature. The support rib may also be configured to serve as a reservoir for water or other insect attractant.

摘要： This invention describes a cellulose bait that is hermetically sealed with a non- biodegradable material through which termites can tunnel or chew. The envelopes of the subject invention are preferably made of a soft/flexible material. Because the bait is hermetically sealed ("HS baits") in a weather-resistant enclosure, it can remain in the environment for extended periods until termite feeding occurs. Not only is the bait protected, the environment is also protected from the toxicant because the toxicant is completely sequestered until it is encountered by the foraging termites. This novel bait system does not require monitoring. Such baits can be placed in large quantities in places where monitoring is not practical and/or economical. The subject bait packs can be distributed in large quantities in agricultural fields or in large areas such as an entire city for area-wide population management of subterranean termites. The subject invention also provides surprising advantages associated with bypassing bait inspection and replacement; the subject invention eliminates "station avoidance" by some termite species. In other preferred embodiments, HS baits of the subject invention can be used in conjunction with durable, sturdy station housings.

Method of employing such agents include a container comprising a VUAAI in a liquid or gaseous dispersion. The gaseous dispersion may be an aerosol. The container may further comprising a nozzle or valve, a porous applicator, or a rolling applicator. Articles employing such agents include a fabric or material such as clothing, a shelter, bedding or netting. The method comprises contacting a host surface located in said environment with said compound, such as with an aerosol or mist delivery, to a water surface, to a shelter or clothing surface, or depositing a solid form of said compound in said environment. The method may further comprise provision of an insect repellent to said environment, such as a mosquito repellent.
