摘要： An optical pressure monitoring system includes a tube from an infusion set and an optical signal sensor disposed to detect changes in the diameter of the tube and thereby determine pressure changes within the tube. By selecting the position of the tube relative to the optical signal emitter and optical signal receiver, the optical signal sensor can both detect pressure changes and provide an integrity check for both the functioning of the optical signal sensor and the placement of the tube. By modifying the tube to exaggerate changes in tube diameter responsive to pressure changes, the sensitivity of the optical signal sensor can be increased.

摘要： A docking station for removable connection to an enteral feeding pump enables automated flushing of an administration set loaded in the enteral feeding pump. The docking station may have a valve seat configured to receive a switchable flow valve of the administration set, a flush controller, an actuator connected to the flush controller and configured to releasably mate with the switchable flow valve when the switchable flow valve is received by the valve seat, and data communication means by which data signals sent by the enteral feeding pump are inputted to the flush controller of the docking station when the enteral feeding pump is connected to the docking station. In operation, the flush controller may receive a flush command sent by the enteral feeding pump and transmit a control signal to the actuator for switching the switchable flow valve to a flush position in response to the flush command.

摘要： A liquid dispensing system (100) increases the precision, reliability, and safety of dispensing medications and other liquids. An electronic brake (106) grounds a power terminal (118) of a pump motor (102) to absorb the kinetic energy of the motor (102) and other mechanically coupled components. The electronic brake (106) reduces overage and overage variation in the dispensing of liquids at very little cost or complexity. A watchdog circuit (136) monitors a controller heartbeat signal (140) and disables the motor (102) in the absence of a regular beat. The watchdog circuit (136) along with redundant power switches (122) greatly reduce the possibility of motor runaway in the event of component failure. A controller (134) begins or ends each dispensing cycle with a diag nostic which determines whether the liquid dispensing system (100) is fully operational. If not, the controller (134) may disable the motor (102), emit an alarm tone, and display an alarm message.
