摘要： A coupling for joining pipe segments together is disclosed. The coupling is derived from a standard fitting and has a housing with a socket and an expanded region adjacent to the socket. Three shoulders are positioned within the expanded region. A sealing member and two support washers are positioned within the expanded region, each engaging a shoulder. A retainer is positioned in the expanded region between the two support washers. A lip, positioned at the end of the expanded region, extends radially inwardly and captures the sealing member, washers and retainer within the coupling. The retainer has a plurality of radial teeth angularly oriented to engage a pipe and prevent its removal from the coupling. One of the washers is kept in spaced relation from the other washer by a shoulder to prevent contact with the retainer upon assembly which may otherwise inhibit the teeth engaging the pipe.

摘要： The present invention relates to leak preventing gaskets contemplated for use with segmented pipe couplings, which generally include a pair of coupling segments adapted to receive a gasket which surrounds a pair of pipes to join the pipes together or to join a nipple or fitting to the pipe by tightening a pair of bolts and related fasteners with a corresponding pair of bolt pads on the segments. The couplings contemplated for use with the gasket of the present invention includes types which are adapted to attach grooved and flared end pipes, or non-grooved pipes in sealed relation to withstand fluid at temperatures up to and including 230°F and higher, and at pressures of up to 1,000 psi. Although such pipes generally conduct water up to about 230°F, they may also be used for toxic and volatile chemicals. The gasket of the present invention is of the ring-type which is made of an elastomeric material such as synthetic or natural rubber or combinations thereof, and preferably, ethylene polypropylene diene monomer, commonly referred to as "EPDM". The gasket provides improved sealing through a pair of sealing flanges having relatively planar and expansive inner walls, shorter sealing lips, and particular dimensional relationships with the grooved pipe ends. The invention also relates to a coupling incorporating such gaskets, as well as a method of providing a sealed coupling.

摘要： The present invention is a system and method for visually indexing medical data about a patient by generating an image for presentation to a user depicting a subset of the patient's body parts, with body parts having associated diagnostic data highlighted. A user may then select a highlighted body part and be presented with some or all of the associated diagnostic data. The user may manipulate the presented image, which is derived from a three dimensional model, to rotate it or zoom is to expose more body parts, or more detailed body parts depicting child body parts associated with the diagnostic data. The system or method may employ a patient index comprising a hierarchical graph with nodes corresponding to body parts and associated with diagnostic data for those body parts.

摘要： A Cooperative Grid Based Picture Archiving and Communication System (Grid PACS for short) is a multimedia (imaging) medical information archiving, communication and application system used in hospitals. Based on the existing PACS servers, workstations, or other networked multimedia image management systems, it adds and integrates grid-based network functionality into the existing image systems to form new grid-based image communication and management system. It uses service-oriented and event-driven concepts and methods to design and implement a new grid-based image communication and management system to solve the problems encountered in distributing archived image information, coordinating work and managing in a virtually centralized way (Virtual Super-PACS) of different PACS or archiving systems under varied operating environments.
