摘要： A method and composition are disclosed that are useful for processing biological samples. In one aspect, a biological sample such as a tissue section is treated using a histochemical technique and is contacted with a lipid compound during the process to enhance the definition of cellular and sub-cellular features that are observable in the sample when it is viewed microscopically. In other aspects, a coverslipping composition that includes a lipid compound and a method of coverslipping a sample using the coverslipping composition are disclosed.

摘要： An apparatus and method are described that achieve independent and simultaneous processing of a plurality of substrate- supported biological samples. In one embodiment, substrate holders arranged in a minor arc are independently moveable between a processing position and an access position, and reagents are delivered to substrates held in the substrate holders through a nozzle plate that moves along the arc of substrate holders. The disclosed apparatus and method are particularly suited for implementation of lean processing of biological samples.

摘要： The invention is the combination of a rectangular-shaped tray adapted to hold one or more removable slide frames which orient the slides horizontally, the combination also functioning to accurately and reproducibly align the slides for automated processing. The slide tray has molded features that positively hold the slide frames in place. The slide frames are removable so that the histotechnician may load the five or so slides that each frame holds in groups of five. The frames are removable to facilitate loading of slides and cleaning of the tray. A related invention is a slide tray for holding microscope slides substantially horizontally for automated chemical processing, comprising a tray having a floor and integral means for holding slides securely and fixedly positioned on said floor.
