Water ejected through a forming wire driven by a forming roll (110) may be directed by a guide plate (150) into a turbine (140), which drives a motor (210) to generate electricity. The motor may be controlled by a power control system (220), which may control the speed of the motor, and by extension, the speed of the turbine. The power control system may send power from a sink/source to the motor (driving the turbine) and/or send power from the motor to the sink/source. Various methods comprise operating a papermaking machine comprising an apparatus for recovering energy from the forming section.

The guide plate may have a particular shape that increases an efficiency with which water is guided into the turbine while reducing a tendency of the water to bounce back into the forming roll. The surface of the guide plate may have a plurality of curvatures. The surface of the guide plate may be shaped such that it meets one or more constraints on the angle of impingement of water impacting the guide plate after having been ejected from the forming wire.

摘要： The invention relates to a tissue paper making machine designed for possible rebuild from one concept to another. The machine comprises a forming section (2) and a Yankee drying cylinder (3) mounted to be rotatable about a first axis of rotation (A1). The forming section has a forming roll mounted for rotation about a second axis of rotation (A2) which is parallel to the first axis of rotation (A1). The forming section (2) has a head box (5) and a first and a second forming fabric (6,7). The head box (5) is arranged to inject stock into a gap (8) between the first forming fabric (6) and the second forming fabric (7). The first forming fabric (6) is a felt that forms a loop and is arranged to carry a newly formed fibrous web (W) from the forming section (2) to the Yankee drying cylinder (3). The tissue paper making machine (1) comprises a press roll (9) arranged inside the loop of the first forming fabric (6) and forming a nip (N) against the Yankee drying cylinder (3). The distance (X) in the horizontal direction between the first axis of rotation (A1) and the second axis of rotation (A2) is in the range of 18 m – 40 m.
