    • An optical reading device for an optical recording medium comprisesa source (1) which emits a first beam of light (F1) along a main optical axis (01); a separating means (2) which directs the first beam along the main optical axis onto the surface of the record carrier (5) and separates a second beam (F2) obtained by reflection of the first beam on the surface of the recording medium in order to produce a third beam (F'3) directed along a secondary optical axis; a focusing means (4) arranged between the separating means and the surface of the recording medium, which focuses the first beam onto said surface; a mask which introduces disymmetry into the third beam; and at least one detection device (7) which receives at least part of the third beam (F'3) and emits at least one electrical signal corresponding to the detection effected.
