    • A nutritional supplement for providing, and for promoting the health of salivary glands and/or supporting normal or healthy swallowing includes ingredients obtainable from turmeric, ginger, and horseradish. The nutritional supplement may also be used to treat symptoms such as symptoms of a common cold, sore throat, congestion, mucositis, laryngitis, mucous membrane inflammation and sialorrhea, as well as inflammation and viral infectin, or to inhibit or exterminate a virus. This nutritional supplement can be orally administered a person. This nutritional supplement may further include a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier for oral administration. Also disclosed are methods of providing nutrition, for promoting the health of salivary glands and/or supporting normal or healthy swallowing, as well as methods for treating symptoms of a common cold, sore throat, congestion, mucositis, laryngitis, mucous membrane inflammation and sialorrhea. Methods of treating inflammation, and viral infections, as well as inhibiting or exterminating viruses are also disclosed.

A method for the topical administration of the composition in accordance with the present invention for the purpose of preventing, reducing or treating radiation injury involves topically administering an effective amount of the composition of the invention an area of skin, which has been or will be exposed to ionizing radiation. The compositions and methods can be employed to prevent, reduce or treat radiation injury caused by a wide variety of types of radiation exposure.
