    • The present disclosure relates to a technique for configuring and collecting network performance measurements in a mobile communications network, the mobile communications network comprising at least one network node and at least one mobile terminal 208 connected to the at least one network node, implementing a Minimization of Drive Tests (MDT) trace measurement configuration and collection. A method embodiment comprises the steps of performing, in the at least one mobile terminal 208, a service specific measurement based on a service specific measurement configuration, wherein the service specific measurement includes determining one or more quality metrics related to at least one of one or more services, one or more service types, one or more bearers, one or more applications and one or more application types provided in the mobile communications network, to obtain a result of the performed service specific measurement and generating, in the at least one mobile terminal 208, active test traffic based on an active measurement configuration to perform an active measurement, wherein the active measurement uses the generated test traffic to obtain a result of the performed active measurement, the result of the performed active measurement indicating the performance of the test traffic in the mobile communications network.

    • A telecommunications network, and particularly a mobility management entity (MME) (26) of the telecommunications network, performs negotiation of use of header compression over at least a portion of a backhaul link (42) extending between a base station node (28) and a serving gateway (SGW) (24). In some embodiments the backhaul link comprises a radio link. In certain bearer encapsulation embodiments having radio-interface borne backhaul links a General Packet Radio service Tunneling Protocol (GTP) tunnel traverses between the serving gateway node (24) and a relay base station node (28). In such bearer encapsulation embodiments the method further comprises handling signaling between the serving gateway node (24) and the relay base station node (28) for negotiating the use of the header compression inside the General Packet Radio service Tunneling Protocol (GTP) tunnel. In certain proxy embodiments having radio-interface borne backhaul links the backhaul link comprises a first tunnel extending between the serving gateway node (24) and a donor base station node (70) and a further (e.g., second) tunnel extending between the donor base station node (70) and the relay base station node (28). In such example proxy embodiments the method further comprises handling signaling between the relay base station node (28) and the donor base station node (70) for negotiating the use of the header compression inside the second tunnel, and (optionally) handling signaling between the donor base station node (70) and the serving gateway node (24) for negotiating the use of the header compression inside the first tunnel.

    • A method and apparatus for managing UE-based network performance measurements utilizing a process of tracing a UE in a radio telecommunication network. An eNB (12) may receive a trace activation message from a Mobility Management Entity, MME, (11 ) or a Network Management Entity, wherein the trace activation message includes eNB- specific, and optionally MME-specific, selection conditions for selecting a UE (13) for a trace session. The eNB selects a UE for tracing when the eNB- specific selection conditions are satisfied, and may send the MME-specific selection conditions to the MME for evaluation. When all selection conditions are satisfied, the eNB (12) activates the trace session with the selected UE (13). The Trace Activation SE utilized in the Trace Start message, the UE Context Setup Request message, and the Handover Request message is extended with additional IEs in order to implement the method.
