    • A method and apparatus for controlling the power consumption of a receiver based on current operating conditions is described herein. A receiver according to the present invention applies a received signal to a variable filter. The received signal includes a desired in-band signal. Depending on the current operating conditions, the received signal may further include one or more unwanted out-of-band blocking signals. A filter controller controls one or more operating parameters of the variable filter to maintain the power ratio at the filter output of the power of the blocking signal(s) to the in-band signal at or below a desired level. In so doing, the present invention controls the receiver power consumption while still providing the desired receiver performance.

    • A processing device (40) for processing an analog complex input signal representing a sequence of OFDM symbols in a radio-receiver (10). The processing device comprises a plurality of processing paths (P 1 -P N ), each comprising a complex mixer and an analog channel- selection filter (CSF 1 -CSF N ). Furthermore, the processing device comprises an oscillator unit (70) arranged to provide local oscillator signals associated with the complex mixer (CM 1 -CM N ) of each processing path. A control unit (60) is adapted to receive control data and determine, based on the control data, subcarrier locations, within at least one individual OFDM symbol of the sequence of OFDM symbols, of one or more resource blocks allocated to the radio receiver (10). Furthermore, the control unit (60) is adapted to, for each of said at least one individual OFDM symbol, control the local oscillator signals associated with the complex mixers (CM 1 -CM N ) based on the determined subcarrier locations and passbands (110a-d, 310a-d) of the channel-selection filters (CSF 1 -CSF N ) such that each resource block allocated to the radio receiver (10) is frequency translated by a complex mixer (CM 1 -CM N ) of the processing paths (P 1 -P N ) to appear within the passband of the following channel-selection filter (CSF 1 -CSF N ). A corresponding method of processing the analog complex input signal is also disclosed.
