摘要： Methods and systems for automatically bypassing a short message service center for short message service (SMS) messages destined for predetermined SMPP destinations are disclosed. A signal transfer point may receive SMS messages that are global title addressed to a short message service center. The signal transfer point may internally route such messages to a short message gateway. The short message gateway may identify SMS messages destined for predetermined SMPP destinations and forward those messages to the destinations in a manner that bypasses the SMSC. For other SMS messages, the short message gateway may forward these messages to the SMSC for delivery.

A method is disclosed herein for providing Wi-Fi gateway VLR functionality for an access point in a Wi-Fi network. The steps of the method can occur at a Wi-Fi gateway VLR that can perform VLR functions for at least one access point in a Wi-Fi network. The VLR functions can include receiving a registration request from a subscriber located in a service area of an access point in the Wi-Fi network. Further, the VLR functions can include authenticating the subscriber with a home location register (HLR) associated with the cellular network. The VLR functions can also include receiving information associated with the subscriber from the HLR. The Wi-Fi gateway VLR can store the information associated with the subscriber and maintain Wi-Fi reachability information for sending media packets to the subscriber in the Wi-Fi network.

According to one method, a SIP call setup message associated with a first call from a calling subscriber to a called subscriber is received. It is then determined whether the calling subscriber subscribes to a play advertisement pay less (PAPL) service. In response to determining that the calling subscriber subscribes to the PAPL service, an advertisement is presented to the calling subscriber via the subscriber's telephone, the call is connected to the called subscriber, and a reduced charge is effected for the call based on the PAPL service.

A surveillance and signaling router (100) receives call signaling messages, identifies call signaling messages associated with user under surveillance type for the call signaling messages. If the surveillance type is content-related, the surveillance and signaling router forwards the message to a call server (108). The call server replaces parameters in the message and in subsequent messages so that the call is transparently set up trough a media proxy server (110). The media proxy server copies the media stream to a delivery function.
