摘要： The invention relates to a turf product being in the form of an extended slab comprising a growing medium of substantial thickness to provide a root zone, the growing medium being sand and/or soil, turf established on the surface of the growing medium and with the roots thereof extending into the root zone characterized in that the combination of the roots and the root zone material and the thickness of the growing medium is such that the slab is consolidated and has a degree of structural rigidity so that it is possible to handle the slab without any form of support of its base. Reinforcing material in the form of small plastic mesh may be located in the growing medium. The product may be lifted from at least a number of positions over its area by a grab (10) having tines (22) which can be brought into contact with the surface of the slab and it may be used to replace worn areas in racecourses and sports arenas. The slab may form part of a removable cricket pitch.

摘要： A method of maintaining turf in a stadium which includes having the turf in the form of slabs on a prepared surface which gives the required drainage and, on a regular or needs basis, moving the slabs of turf so that over a period, they all spend a sufficient time in a good growing position to enable the health of the turf overall to be maintained to thereby maximise the overall usage of the stadium. The invention also provides means whereby the stadium can be provided with line numbering which is completely removed when the purpose for which the stadium is used is changed and also means whereby a logo or the like can be located on and removed from the stadium when the use is to be changed.

摘要： An apparatus for laying sand and/or a sand/reinforcement matrix onto a pre-prepared surface, which apparatus includes a hopper (11) to provide the matrix to be laid, a plunger (40) at the forward end (30), in the sense of the direction of movement of the apparatus, of the hopper (11) and means (41) whereby the plunger (40) can be reciprocated to take material from the hopper and deliver it through an extrusion aperture (32) in the rear thereof to an extrusion mould (34, 35), the extrusion being effected by the machine moving forwardly as pressure is applied to the matrix to be extruded and the mould passes over the matrix. The invention also includes apparatus which can remove the top soil from a surface, add reinforcement thereto and re-locate the matrix so formed in place of the material removed. The invention also describes apparatus to deliver the matrix material to a distribution machine, whilst the apparatus of the invention is delivering completed material. Also described are methods, specifically methods which use the apparatus to lay matrix material on prepared, normally sand, surfaces.

摘要： A self-propelled vehicle for use on surfaces which are to be undisturbed, the vehicle having a chassis (11), rollers (13, 14) mounted transverse to the chassis having two continuous belts (16) located thereabouts and means (hydraulic motors (21)) on the chassis to provide a driving connection with the rollers whereby the vehicle can be self-propelled. Steering is effected through selective driving of the respective belts. Various apparatus can be mounted on the chassis. A sand distributing apparatus is disclosed comprising a main hopper (30) for containing the sand, a conveyor (31) at the bottom of this hopper to move the sand out of the hopper to a distribution device comprising a delivery hopper (41) having a delivery roller (43) at the open bottom thereof and a rotary bristle brush roller (45) adjacent the delivery roller (43) to ensure delivery of all material on the delivery roller. Also disclosed is an apparatus to effect mixing of sand with a reinforcing material and comprises a hopper adapted to deliver sand, a main conveyor associated with the hopper and onto which the sand is received, a distribution apparatus by which reinforcing material can be placed on the sand on the conveyor and a flail at the end of the conveyor into which the sand/reinforcing mixture passes and which causes the mixture to forcibly strike a surface effecting mixing of the components.
