摘要： A fluid flow regulator useful with swimming pool suction cleaners includes a flow passage conduit for connection between a suction pump and the pool cleaner. A flow bypass conduit is connected to the flow passage conduit for injecting an ambient fluid into a bypass flow passage. A valve operates within the bypass flow passage with a spring carried entirely within the bypass passage for urging the valve toward a seated position. An adjustment knob acts on the spring for modifying a biasing force on the valve urging the valve toward the seated position in opposition to a pressure from a fluid flow within the flow passage urging the valve to the open position.

摘要： A submersible cleaner (10) includes a valve (52) within a flow passage (36) for interrupting fluid flow (44) and thus drive the cleaner (10) over submerged surfaces (50) to be cleaned. A retractable element (58) moveable between the valve (52) and a wall (42) within the passage (36) reduces a gap (64) formed between them such that flow (44) through the passage (36) is directed along one side (66) of the valve (52) resulting in improved driving power and reduced clogging by debris passing through the passage (36). The retractable element (58) may be attached to either the valve (52) or the wall (42), and may make slidable engagement between them. A flexible plate (32) engaging the surface (50) includes a plurality of tongues (116) radially extending about the periphery (114) with each tongue (116) having a lower surface portion (118) contacting the surface (50) to be cleaned and an outmost portion (120) contoured away from the surface (50).
