    • The present invention relates a liquid crystal display. The liquid crystal display includes a liquid crystal panel assembly including a plurality of pixels arranged in a matrix, a gate driver applying gate signals to the pixels for application of data signals to the pixels, a data driver selecting gray voltages corresponding to gray signals and applying the selected gray voltages to the pixels as the data signals, and a signal controller providing the gray signals and control signals for controlling the gray signals for the gate driver and the data driver. The data signals include normal data signals and a black data signal. The data driver alternately applies the normal data signals and the black data signal to the pixels under control of the signal controller. A scanning direction of the normal data signals is opposite in adjacent frames. Accordingly, respective holding periods of all the pixels for the normal data signals and the black data signals are uniform, and then image quality of the LCD is uniformed to be improved.

    • The present invention relates to a liquid crystal display and driving device thereof. According to the present invention, a liquid crystal display with a multi-cell-gap configuration includes first and second panels facing each other, and a plurality of pixel electrodes, a common electrode, and a plurality of storage electrodes formed at one of the first and the second panels. A liquid crystal capacitance is formed between each pixel electrode and the common electrode along with a liquid crystal material interposed therebetween, and a storage capacitance is formed between each pixel electrode and a corresponding storage electrode along with an insulating layer interposed therebetween. The storage capacitance depends upon a cell gap. The gray voltages applied to the pixel electrodes have positive and negative gray voltages. The reference value of the positive and the negative gray voltages is varied depending upon the gray. The present invention uniformly compensates flicker even in a liquid crystal display having the kick-back voltage depending on the grays.

    • A liquid crystal display includes a bottom substrate, and gate and data lines (20, 70) formed on the bottom substrate while intersecting each other to define pixel regions. A pixel electrode (91-95) is formed at each pixel region while being partitioned into a plurality of partitions (91-93) by way of an opening pattern. A thin film transistor is connected to the pixel electrode, the gate line (20), and the data line (70). A top substrate faces the bottom substrate with a common electrode (400). The common electrode (400) has an opening pattern (410, 420, 430) for partitioning the plurality of partitions (91-93) into a plurality of micro domains. The micro domains are classified into first and second horizontal micro domains and first vertical micro domains depending upon the average direction of the liquid crystal molecules within the relevant regions. The second horizontal micro domains are arranged between the first vertical micro domains and the data lines (70) placed at the left and right sides of the first vertical micro domains. The first horizontal micro domains are disposed at at least one of the top and bottom sides of the first vertical micro domains.
