摘要： A safety arrangement (30, Fig. 1; 430, Fig. 6) for a work platform structure (10; 410), such as formed by trestles (12; 12') and overlying decking boards (14), provides guard rails (50) above platform height to prevent users and objects falling from the platform without compromising stability. It comprises one or more upright members (32 1 , 32 2 ; 432 1 , 432 2 ) each standing separately on the ground adjacent a supporting leg (20 1A ; 20' 1A ) of an associated trestle configuration (12 1 ;12' 1 , 12' 2 ), and having a lower portion (32 1L ; 432 1L , 432 2L ) coupled to the supporting leg and an upper portion (32 1U ) extending above platform level providing guard rail mounting features (44 1 , 44 2 ; 444). Stand-off members (36 1U , 36 1L ) extend from the lower portion (32 1L ) to the supporting leg (20 1A ) by way of longitudinally moveable collars (38 1L , 38 1U ), whilst allowing the upright member to be independently supported on the ground at a fixed distance from the platform that avoids fouling. The guard rail mounting features are offset towards the platform are formed as channels to receive platform boarding planks as guard rails. The centre of gravity of the upright member is offset towards the, platform giving a tendency for the upright member to lean and cause frictional locking with the trestle by way of the coupling pieces, whereby the platform supports the upright member and the upright member acts as a stabilising buttress for the platform. The upright member (432 1 ,432 2 ) may be supported with respect to an associated supporting leg (20' 2A ) so as to be pivotable about the leg anal when not in use fold flat against the trestle (12' 2 ) inboard of the trestle envelope, such folding being particularly effective when the upright member has separable upper and lower portions and the lower portion is shorter than the associated trestle.
