摘要： A method, apparatus and computer program product are provided herein for enabling a D2D bearer to stay alive even in an instance in which a D2D connection is lost. In some example embodiments, a method is provided that comprises detecting a condition that indicates that a device-to-device bearer is to be terminated. The method of this embodiment may also include modifying a cellular bearer protocol data unit header, such that the cellular bearer protocol data unit header indicates that a cellular bearer service data unit is a device-to-device protocol data unit. The method of this embodiment may also include causing one or more device-to-device protocol data units to be encapsulated within one or more cellular bearer protocol data units, such that the one or more device-to-device protocol data units are transmitted via a cellular bearer.

One embodiment comprises an apparatus for use in controlling access to a device-to-device (D2D) communication service in a communication network, the apparatus comprising a processing system arranged to cause the apparatus to: receive a D2D discovery signal comprising data indicative of said D2D communication service; determine a verification state for the D2D communication service as one of a first verification state and a second, different, verification state, on the basis of said received D2D discovery signal, the first verification state being one in which said D2D communication service can be verified by the processing system; and in the event that said D2D communication service is determined to be in the second verification state, transmit data indicative of said D2D communication service for verification by the communication network.

摘要： Embodiments provide methods, apparatus and computer software for controlling resource usage in a wireless communications network and controlling autonomous denials between a user equipment and a network entity. A system frame number associated with the network entity is used as the basis for generate an indicator for the start of a time period. The indicator is then transmitted to the user equipment, which is adapted respond to receipt of the indicator by configuring the user equipment to perform no more than a predetermined number of autonomous denials during the time period. The number of unsuccessful transmissions during the time period is then monitored by the network entity, and resource usage within the wireless communications network is selectively adapted on the basis of the monitoring.

An exemplary embodiment comprises the steps of: causing the device to operate in a first mode in which the device is capable of sending data to, and receiving data from, the access point; receiving control data from the access point, the control data comprising first data indicative of a time period, and second data indicative of a control parameter; causing the device to operate in a second mode for the time period specified by the first data and on the basis of the control parameter, in which, in the second mode, at least some circuitry of the device used for sending data, and at least some circuitry of the device used for receiving data, is placed in a low power state, and data to be sent to the access point is stored in the buffer; and after expiry of the time period, causing the device to operate in the first mode whereby to send the data stored in the buffer to the access point. Method, apparatus and computer program embodiments are also provided for use in controlling operation of a cooperating access point.
